Nice view , quite unique to eat over the river, but we probably arrived too late 2 pm to get the right attention and service. We arrived on the balcony, only one table was taken, we asked to get the table next to this couple, with a nice view, the young waitress was cleaning up a table and was a bit annoyed that we did not pick up a clean table and she was mentioning that was running out of time to clean tables, fine a smile I told her that we could wait few minutes until she would clean the table. We decided to go to the beautiful village of St Guilhem le desert on an impulse, so hadn't decided where to eat. That was easily decided when we saw this restaurant with an eating deck perched 100' above the Herault river (which is also great for canoeing on!).We all had the Bistrot menu of a salad and main course - and all by chance selected the tarragon chicken - nice and succulent and very flavourful. This is a family-run restaurant bar. The cuisine is traditional and the prices are reasonable. Today, we chose the €15,50 menu: plat du jour and dessert, followed by coffee for an extra €1,70 each. Honest, fresh, homecooked food but not haute cuisine. Service is good but what makes this restaurant outstanding are the views over the Gorges de L'Herault. Lunch here after a good "randonnée" in the hills above the village.
We walked in because of the lovely aspect over the gorge. It was a busy day and we had to wait to be seated but once we ordered the food arrived within minutes and we had to wait quite a long time for water, wine and bread. Not the dining expereince one would like. The mains/salad were quite average, however the cafe gourmand was very good.

This restaurant is well worth a visit if you're in the area, the staff are friendly and accommodating and the views over the valley are brilliant, the water is so clear you can see some fish! We chose the meatballs which were cooked pretty much to perfection and the flavours were great too. Thoroughly recommended.
The village is very quaint, but eat at this restaurant overlooking the Herault gorge. On the terrace you are right above the gorge. The menu is limited, but if our experience is typical the food is very good and reasonable value. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The food and wine were very good. We had the plate of the day it was quite good. Our waitress was quite friendly and helpful. Most importantly the view made the meal. Most importantly get a set along the gorge and enjoy a very good meal with breath taking views.
We didn't eat here as we were too early for lunch and was looking for breakfast which they don't do. The staff were lovely and offered to share their own breakfast with us! We gracefully declined and had a coffee instead. The views are beautiful.

The food was the best of the best!!! The fish was the fresher ever and everything we had was delicious. The staff is extremely friendly.
