We went to Hambar for dinner. Reservations are accepted, but we didn't make any and had no trouble getting in. The drink menu is extensive so don't be afraid to ask for a recommendation. We ended up splitting the Hambar Charcuteries platter, which was not only excellent but more than enough food for the both of us. A fairly unique trait to this restaurant was that there seemed to be no set waiter for each table, the host, waiters and other employees all seemed to use teamwork to serve all the tables. We were actually fairly impressed by this teamwork. If you are in the area be sure to stop by Hambar!
I went to this restaurant with a group of friends on a short vacation. They seated all of us with no reservation, which was very nice. We were a little confused by the menu, but the waiter tried to help us. This is really a ham/meat restaurant, and hams are hanging like artwork all around. We ordered a meat and a cheese platter for the table. The cheese was excellent, but sparse. The meat platter was wonderful, with many varieties including pate. I had a salad which was good, but the pasta dish was unusual and not the best.
Great food, fantastic service, memorable visit. Will be back for sure. Ambience was great when we arrived, background music and decor was first class. One thing that let it down a little was a big ice hockey game was on, and the bar staff out the game on the big screen and turned off the music. This killed the mood for sure. Thought that if people wanted to see a hockey game they could go to a pub. Still a great night none the less.
Very good lunchtime menu with a choice of 2 course lunch for $19 starter of soup or salad but a good selection of mains. Had the potato and leek soup followed by the pulled tacos, both were very good, My wife had the burger which was also very good. We did try to sit outside in the decked area one evening but you have to have something to eat to sit there can't just have a drink even if your a guest at the hotel!!

Hambar is located within the St. Paul hotelin the old city of Montreal. We stayed at the Hotel and visited the bar/restaurant several times during our visit. It seems to be a happy hour favorite of business people in the hour. It is modern, cool and noisy as heck. The drinks are expensive and the food, I felt mediocre. I would recommend one of many of the smallFrance restaurants around the corner.
While staying in Montreal, this restaurant was recommended by the Sofitel Hotel. We started with some oysters and they were some of the best ever. Our next choice was the tare tare. All I can say is WOW. They had sweetbreads on the menu so I took a chance and ordered. Outstanding, delicious, beautifully presented. Don't miss this little gem of a place when in Montreal.
Go somewhere else we were disappointed...NYC food is better and cheaper ..we had two glasses of wine and they barely gave a little portion for a 12 dollar glass wine with our meal...and they just poured cheap house as opposed to what I ordered
A group of 8 girls had an amazing Saturday brunch. The menu offered an amazing selection of sweet and spicy items. We tried tacos, hamburger, stuffed french toast and eggs Benedict with lobster. Everything was amazing!

a nice hotel restaurant, the hambar has a short but good menu, and offers quite a good range of wines. the only problem I had was the service: too slow and sometimes not that accurate.
