Opposite an industrial zone but on the grassy side of the road, it has 120 seats inside and the same out on the terrace, and it's always full. Known for the pizze and pasta, but there's plenty of choice on the menu fish, meat, salads etc. Service was not 100% up to scratch, as some things we asked for never arrived (ice cream menu, a carafe of water... , and we waited quite a while for the food to arrive (but were given complimentary limoncellos afterwards as an apology . The presentation of the strawberry tartlet could have been more carefully done the streak of jelly was more of an unappetizing splodge. But the rum baba was delicious, and the café gourmand quite generous.
This restaurant sells the view (which is fine) and the ambience (which is agreeable). It is all downhill from there, the service arrogant and nonchalant, the owner dismissive (accuses the diner for not appreciating poor service and bad cuisine), the food substantially inferior to what was once served in Swiss railroad buffets, 2nd Class. The 1st Class buffets were rather good, greatly superior to anything Le Coucou has on offer. There are many better choices. Give this one a pass.
Although the service was rather on the slow side we enjoyed the pizza. The prices were pretty average for the region (fr 20. to fr 22. for a pizza). I had the calzone and my friend had a tuna pizza. Luckily we had booked a table because the place was quite crowded probably because it was a Friday evening. There seemed to be a good choice of dishes on the menu so probably something for everyone.
We go to coucou as a family at least once a month. Food is really good, tasty, fresh ingredients, even the pizzas are excellent! Totally reasonable in terms of price according to Swiss general standards. And the staff is super kind and efficient : they made this restaurant even better!! You should go here. Dont forget to make a reservation as it is always full!
My family and I live nearby this restaurant and regularly order pizza and pick it up there. It’s a bit expensive but that’s Switzerland for you and they don’t offer pepperoni pizza however, overall it’s a good place :
Restaurant an der Spitze von Lausanne. Die Umgebung ist etwas altmodisch. Herzliches Willkommen. Sicherlich auch eine große Auswahl an Gerichten auf der Speisekarte. Gutes Fleisch, keine Beschwerden, fairer Preis.
Ausgezeichnetes italienisches Restaurant. Wir wohnen direkt an der Straße und essen hier regelmäßig. Ihre Pizzen sind immer gut, ebenso wie die hausgemachte Pasta, aber mein Favorit ist ihr eigenes Cordon Bleu.
Really recommend this restaurant, food is excellent and the service efficient and polite. The menu covers a wide range of dishes. The food is definitely benefiting from fresh ingredients. I will eat here again.
Le Coucou proved a popular, busy restaurant, north of Lausanne. The filets-de-perche proved good. The service was expedient, on a surprisingly busy Tuesday evening.
