This restaurant in an old stone house in Pointe-Claire has charm, but our party was quite disappointed with the food and service, which shouldn’t be the case with the prices being charged here. Several of us ordered veal and we were served absolutely enormous chops that weren’t particularly flavourful. It’s almost as if the chefs were counting on the size of the serving to impress, but no one was even able or interested in finishing their meals. Two of my colleagues and I recently had a wonderful lunch at le Gourmade restaurant in old Pointe-Claire. The restaurant is located in a historic house named Maison Demers-Portelance which was built around 1847.The restaurant is small but has a very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Our server was excellent, very congenial, and almost anticipated our requests.All three of us chose lunch off the daily menu. I chose an introductory salad and for my main dish, the organic salmon which was served with baby shrimp and brie cheese. Located within an old stone farm house, Le Gourmand is a bit of an institution in the west island, located in the old Pointe-Claire village. This is a classic continental style restaurant with steak, fish, and the like...comfort food at its finest.The ambiance is exceptionally warm and cozy (especially on a cold wintery Montreal evening), being surround of the inviting stone, low wooden ceilings and fireplaces. What a cute restaurant! Love the old stone building. They have a cozy fireplace.We made reservations and were seated immediately.Krista was our waitress. She was fun and friendly.I had to get SOUPE À L'OIGNON GRATINÉE (french onion soup) so delicious.SAUMON ET ESTURGEON FUMÉS (smoked sturgeon and salmon) salmon was good, but I didn't like the sturgeon. Just went there for dinner for the first time today. The service was very attentive and even the owner. I had the Caesar salad to start and the salmon tartar as a main and I have to say it was excellent. It is a nice little restaurant that was built in 1847 with all stone. Also the terrace was nice. I will definitely go back.
Cute French restaurant . Service was a bit slow in the beginning but got better as the evening progressed. We ordered the soup of the day which was a mushroom bisque and the coconut shrimp . Both were okayish. However the main dish seafood gratin was excellent . We then had the brownie for desert which was also good .
If I could give this place Six stars I absolutely would. Wonderful experience every time, with excellent food, impeccable service and an eclectic menu offering that offers you a wide array of options. Kaz and the team are great! A must in the West Island.
