This restaurant is a gem. How could you guess from a truckers' stop right? Well it is. Easy parking for one. Beautiful renovated old building with stonewalls and outbuildings. There's a courtyard in the back where you forget you're on the busy N21 from Périgueux to Bergerac. Amazing setting, fountain, flowers and all....... and quiet, no road noise!! Gorgeous. The service's impeccable. Friendly, fast, professional yet very personal. The food's super. The chef cooks with seasonal ingredients therefore the menu changes regularly. The portions are huge! Great quality food for the price. My husband and I have NEVER been disappointed and we are long time customers. This restaurant deserves its 5...
We passed this place twice in successive weeks and the car park was jammed full each time. We resolved to stop there ourselves the next time we were in the area...... and so we did. The place was full of locals, office workers from nearby Perigueux and couples. The pleasant waitress spoke perfect English and the menu card was varied and quite exciting; there was also the menu du jour etc of course. Good food, good presentation and attentive but unhurried service. We really enjoyed it.
If you drive N21 between Bergerac and Perigueux, just south of A89, you will come across Restaurant Le Rossignol. Do stop! We did stop for lunch and was surprised to find a very nice dining room with an immense fireplace and busy waiters who really made you feel welcome. There was a good choice of as well food as wine, it was deliciously prepared and served and it made a short stop longer than expected since we enjoyed the whole experience so much. Highly recommended!
We spent a lovely couple of hours at this restaurant in the courtyard dining area with fountain and pond, very relaxing. The food was beautifully served, very tasty and reasonably priced. We have been to this restaurant several times and its always good value with the same warm welcome.
