We discovered Las Banderas when I took a drink break after doing 3/4 of a particular stretch of the Camino de La Plata. The tapas which we received with our drinks were so delicious we couldn't resist coming back for lunch. The other factor which attracted us was that this bar/restaurant situated in a corner of the very attractive town square opposite the church, Plaza Espana in Los Santos de Maimona was full of locals...always a good sign. We visited Las Barandas on a hot Monday afternoon seeking a relaxed lunch that reflected the local cuisine. We were surprised the moment we entered to discover a stylish restaurant right alongside the town plaza. We met the chef, Manolo, who guided us through a multiple course meal that started with a fabulous plate of local cheeses and Jamon Iberico. The fish course consisted of cod over rice with a fantastic, rich sauce that complemented the fish perfectly. Very nice restaurant next to a nice quite small square. Very hospitable and a menu offering a good selection. Well prepared fish (Merluz), grilled octopus and accompanied by potatoes. Starters offered a great range from jamón ibérico to a great offering os local cheeses to lomo and salchicha. Beef was prepared well but was a bit stringy and tough. Portions are large so eater beware. Good wine list.

Veníamos con expectativas altas porque lo probamos cuando hizo de catering de una boda. El resultado en el propio restaurante es el mismo o mejor. Repetiremos sin duda, y eso que venimos de fuera
Muy agradable, tanto la comida como la atención. Desde luego sería para volver de nuevo. De precio bien, considerando lo que elegimos, nos salió una media de 35 euros no siendo de menú.

Bastante buena la comida, el solomillo, peculiar, pero con un poco de sabor a arcilla.
