This experience was absolutely fantastic! My husband and I ordered the Arepa Punta Trasera with Queso de Mano and Guasacaca, the Rica Punta Arepa (we added sweet plantains), Tostones with cheese, and a chicken empanada. The arepas were quite large; we could have easily shared one along with the empanada and still felt satisfied. The empanada was definitely the highlight—wow, it was amazing! It's bigger than a traditional empanada, which makes the price worthwhile. The tostones were decent, but I could have done without them. One suggestion for the restaurant would be to offer sides. The food is delicious but make sure you have the time to sit there and wait for someone to come take your order and then bring you the check on a busy day. The lady who I believe is the owner, is really sweet but gets side tracked easily every time that someone a customer starts a long conversation and everyone else has to sit there and wait for a long time. They either need a waitress who takes care of the customers while the other lady socializes or the lady needs to stop having long conversations. I would only get take out here and even then it might take long, when someone decides to tell the owner, their life long story and holds up the line while she listens smh.
This was the first time eating here, and it did not disappoint! My husband and I came in for dinner, we tried the arepa sampler, the Pabellon Criollo and the Pechuga Empanizada. Everything was delicious.The service was a 10/10 and Maria was great in guiding/recommending food since it was our first time. We will definitely be coming back, hopefully next time we will check out the patio.
My wife has been singing the praises of Rica Arepa for years, and she was completely right! The food is incredible, no question about it. They take their craft seriously. On a short visit to Chicago from our home in Nashville, we passed by to grab a quick meal. The food was fresh and hot, and the flavors were to die for. It's definitely hard coming by and buying authentic Venezuelan food, but the dishes here are the best you'll find outside of Venezuela itself.
This charming little restaurant is a beloved gem in the community! They offer delicious food and outstanding service. The Venezuelan cuisine is truly authentic and comforting! The garlic sauce is absolutely amazing; I would put it on everything if I had the chance. A must-visit spot!!
