I love this place! I have told all my friends and bragged about Ricoco's and i was so disappointed when i called in an order to go. So we live in Round Rock and we drive all the way there to enjoy a great meal on a regular basis we love the molcajete and the shrimp ceviche) I haver a business and I work in the area on Wednesdays . So I called to place a to go order over phone and requested a burrito with just beans, rice , onions and cilantro and of course the beef. I give this place a solid four stars. It had amazing food. As someone else stated, this is not Tex-Mex. It is true Latin food. You are first served a spicy cabbage concoction alone side a very flavorful and spicy red salsa. Add those two together and yum. I had the shrimp enchiladas and my son had a chicken pasta with onions, bell peppers, chicken and mushrooms. My shrimp enchiladas were beautifully flavored without any heavy sauces. I've never tasted anything quite like them but absolutely loved it. My son's Key Lime pasta was another dish that had very distinct flavors. I just had to try some of his and I also can rave on it. My cousin was coming in from out of town and we needed to find a place to eat in the Taylor area. Ricoco's was suggested to me by a friend who lives in Taylor, as it is where their family loves to eat. We arrived at about 7:30pm on a Friday and it was pretty busy. It took quite a while to get a table, but with the timing it's to be expected. Salsa was pretty spicy but good. I had the enchiladas suizas, which was very good, and my cousin had the camarones and steak. He said his was also very good. Service was pretty spotty, but since it was a one-time visit I don't know if this was the time and day or if this is the norm. I thought this restaurant made its tortillas fresh and offered tableside guacamole. However, we were served two types of store-bought flour tortillas (some were white HEB ones and others were brown). The guacamole was plopped on our table straight from the fridge just 30 seconds after we ordered it. The shrimp side dish, which looked strangely microwaved and cheesy, was quite puzzling as well. I tried the Chicken Mole Poblano. I had never had mole before. I thought it would be sweet and spicy but it was more salty and flavorful. It was pretty good. I went with a large group (16) and the service was pretty good. We all got our food at about the same time, drinks and chips were refilled. And I got to try an interesting dip with cabbage and jalapeños. I liked it! Anyway, a good place to eat and excellent Mexican style food.
The Latin food here is outstanding! Everything is fresh and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is charming and it’s such a fun place to visit. It's a refreshing change from your usual Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant.
Very friendly staff with good food. Not a fancy place, but you will get your money's worth. The tacos, soups, and entrees are all delicious. The bartender Amy is really friendly, cute, and makes a good margarita.
