Last month I was invited to try the food River Beat and it did not disappoint. The venue is situated on Gateshead’s quayside within a stone’s throw from the Swing Bridge allowing amazing riverside views of Newcastle’s iconic bridges from their beautiful terrace. River Beat specialises in award winning Asian tapas and curries in a quirky setting with relaxed fun vibes. I was lucky enough to try all the below dishes to get a great feel for variety of what they have to offer. The dishes were immense and with so many fresh flavours in each. We visited River Beat last night and had a very disappointing meal. Firstly when we came to order our tapas they didn't have 2 of the meat dishes we wanted we should have been made aware of this when given the menu. Once ordered our food came extremely quickly too quickly, we were done with our meal within 40 minutes of being seated. The food quality did not reflect the price it lacked the wow factor and good flavours. There are much better restaurants on the quayside where you can get quality, flavourful food for the same price or less. On the other hand, the service was lovely and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere.
private culinary experience on river beat. location is spectacular. outdoor terrace with beautiful views. mojito gets a solid 7.5/10 released from ice cubes instead of crushed. eating is asian fusion really well presented with love to detail. with the private culinary experience they brought several dishes all amazing. bold aromen, chili never exaggerated. the outstanding court was the crispy boar. the personal is amazing, so friendly, polite and could not do enough. beautiful little jewel on the gateshead side highly recommended
restaurant was very nice with a beautiful location that personal managed to impress us before our show in the wise. we had a nice choice from main and next dishes. the food quality was nice, but very expensive for what it was and we were not 100% satisfied with the servings vs cost. only to clarify, we had not expected that we were stacking food, but it was quite steep. added the additional 10% measurement tip automatically, which was actually 13% was not justified. Asian fusion style tapas place with a clearly marked series of vegan options. 3 well dimensioned tapas dishes for £20, which are not quite enough for two people, so we also have a bowl of their thick sliced chips in curry sauce. the interieur is clean and modern with magnificent view over the river in direction newcastle. asahi Japanese camp also on design
Absolutely fabulous pub/ snacks/restaurant.. couldn’t of been more welcoming by the staff .. passed many a time but just didn’t go in. Now it’s the 1st place to go or finish in.. again a fantastic menu and great beers.. we’ll be back. And I would definitely recommend it
Really good Asian fusion tapas with a great atmosphere and music. They some unusual dishes the banana blossom was amazing and the tapas was very reasonably priced. Would absolutely go again. (We didn't have any ourselves but the cocktails looked pretty good too).
