Our waiter was a tall, burly man with short white hair; I wish I had caught his name. Aside from the delicious food, he truly made the experience memorable! His service was exceptional, filled with friendly banter, and it seemed like he had the entire menu memorized. As I was leaving, I saw him answering the restaurant phone while juggling three trays of food! I typically dislike dining in NYC due to the pretentious dishes and the default 18% tip, but the service here was on another level! If he had requested a 100% tip, I would have gladly paid it! I had a car maintenance nearby and my family came in to pick up to have brunch together. After searching online, River Mill got our eyes. The interior looks chill. Our hostess is very welcoming. Since we were hungry, we decided to order five brunch dishes. Everything came in very delicious. Our group had 4 adults and 1 child, 5 dishes which is too much for us. There were still half of the grill cheese, half of the Benedict and fries. We started to eat slow and had some conversation when we ate and shared the rest . Maybe our server felt like we can't finish the food, so she asked if we were done with the food. I told her we were still enjoying them. Then another young boy server came to ask...
The food was absolutely delicious! The appetizers were definitely my favorite part of the meal. One person's main dish took a bit longer to arrive than everyone else's, but overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I have to highlight Jameson, the busboy, who was exceptionally attentive in clearing our appetizer plates and making sure our water pitcher was always full during dinner. He really worked hard throughout our visit. Our waitress was also very kind.
This is an exceptional establishment—one of the most genuine and inviting pub taverns I've visited on this side of the Atlantic. The neighborhood atmosphere is fantastic, with great street visibility and a lively vibe. The food and service are outstanding as well. The food at this unassuming restaurant is always terrific! Appetizers, salads, burgers or the crab cakes or halibut! Have never, ever had a bad meal here in all the years we have gone. And the wine selection is pretty reasonable too! Can't go wrong here. Small but cozy outside dinner area as well as bar area.
The bartender was fantastic and incredibly friendly. We dined in and spent around $50–100 per person. I would rate the food a solid 5, the service also a 5, and the atmosphere a perfect 5. I highly recommend trying the Stuffed Clams, Crab Cakes, and Baked Clams.
