We were looking for somewhere local for lunch on short notice that catered for different dietary preferences and we are so glad we decided on the River Royal Inn at Morpeth.Even though it was very quiet, there was still a lovely ambiance with the open windows and decor. The menu had a good selection of favourites with some exciting additions. While the standard prices weren't cheap, they weren't ridiculous either, and the lunch specials were great.With welcoming and friendly staff, our meals were served without delay. Wowie, what a great hotel for Lunch or Dinner, and now they are doing Breakfasts as well, This Hotel has been Refurbished after extensive Water Damage from Storms last year 2016. It is relaxing, has a great Dining Room, wonderful Beer Garden out the back and is shortly to start with entertainment on the Weekends. We called in there after a run with the NRVC, it was pouring rain, so we elected to go to the Pub for Lunch. Talk about Royal treatment, we had the Dining Room to ourselves, and the new Menu had only started that day. This is a quaint little hotel. I loved the different levels it had. Staff were very friendly. Unfortunately the night we were there for dinner the chef got sick and had to go home, so our meal wasn't as good as it could of been. They had a function on as well, so that made us have to wait for our dinner a bit longer. We didn't have a problem with that though as one of the staff came and apologised for the delay. Love the big verandah upstairs, maybe they should open that up to the public. All in all a very nice pub. Will review again after we have been back and had a meal cooked by the chef ;)
We were a little reluctant to dine here after reading some reviews but were very happy with our food. We thought the pub was nice, very clean and service was friendly and reasonably good. However, it was very confusing on entering. Is it table service? No. Where do I order my meal? At the front bar. Do I collect my meal? No, it will be brought to your table. Visited on Easter Sunday. Booked a table for 8 under cover. Arrived to a table in the sun set for 7. Friends also booked a table for 9, they got 6 seats. Under cover tables apparently double booked so they did not need tables booked. Comment by "manager" , I've got one party complaining and another overbooking. Solution, check your bookings.Menu poor, food poor,management poor, customer service poor. Need to improve customer service before I visit again. What a shame
We'd heard the River Royal was under new management and the menu and food had also been improved. Well, we weren't disappointed The staff are really friendly and welcoming and it's a very cosy environment to enjoy the amazing food. The added bonus was, we didn't have wait very long to get our mealsGreat place. Great food. Great service. What more do you need?
I stopped by for lunch based on a friend's recommendation, and I wasn’t disappointed! The restaurant is under new management, and it shows. The portions were generous, and the pepper steak was absolutely fantastic. The staff were friendly and enjoyed engaging in conversation. I’ll definitely be returning. Great job—keep it up!
We visited the River Royal Inn- on 18th March to be entertained by a wonderful young Guitarist and Soloist- Louis, what an amazing talent. Quaint little pub that has been closed for 2 years due to storm damage.Counter where you order lunch is in a weird position at the junction of hallways and the bathrooms.The food was good without being great and the folk band playing in the bay created a good atmosphere.
