Seems like the diner below had a very different experience, We travel a lot and Roadhouse is always our favourite stop on our way to Winnipeg and never had a bad experience. We came to try this out following a good review by friends; mind you; their comments applied in particular to the Indian fare. The two of us had the salmon and crab-cake special of the day. Thefood was bland; salmon was dry/overcooked and crab-cake seemed like some cheap commercial packed variety. No lemonade ! Sparse selection of decaff beverage options. Service was not at all attentive despite there being one other couple in the whole place. French fries were so-so. We wanted dessert but there were only two choices non of which met our desires.Will not return, there are too many other options available. I never expected to find such amazing food when I walked into this restaurant and was seated at a table. We ordered butter chicken, naan, rice, a burger, and fries. The butter chicken was the best I've ever had and the naan was exceptional. The food was served hot and delicious, and even my husband loved his burger, saying it tasted like a homemade meal. I was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. Although we didn't visit the lounge, it looked very cool from the outside. The food and service were both fantastic, making this a must-visit restaurant before leaving or entering Winnipeg.
Who knew that a place called the Roadhouse Eatery Ltd., which looks like your usual big truck stop, would have such amazing East Indian food?! We were there for lunch, and there is very little East Indian food offered then (mostly traditional roadhouse/western food). However, if it's not busy, you can order off the dinner menu which has more options. We were a group of 4, had different dishes, and they were all fantastic! 5 stars to the chicken biryani! Will definitely go back!!!
I do not know how many times we have driven by this restaurant on our way into Winnipeg. We decided to stop in for dinner on Tuesday, Jan 21/14. What a very nice surprise. The Butter Chicken and the Roadhouse Beef Curry were wonderful. We will go again and try some of the other Indian dishes. If you are not a fan of Indian dishes there is lots of other dishes to chose.
We were unfortunate to have stopped here for lunch. We were very disappointed with our experience. The fries were overcooked, dry, hard, and cold. The chicken burger had a strange taste. Even the fries in the poutine were poorly cooked. The service was just okay. We have no intention of returning to this restaurant.
This restraunt was closed down in July 2015 by the family as they had two establishments and it was just too much work. They still operate Sunny and Rose's in Charleswood/Winnipeg, which we frequent.
The food was fine. Menu was varied. service was good. prices are a little high. nice atmosphere for a truck stop location. (overall pretty good and worth stop).
Terrible food and moldy bread equals never returning. Additionally, they do not offer an exchange rate for US currency. Disappointing.
