We ordered one lunch combination plate plus a Hot and Sour Soup. The soup had lots of veggies---in fact I suspect it is vegetarian (had tofu)---and a nice blend of flavours, not too hot, not too sour. The lunch menu doesn't have much variety.....just a few combination plates that don't look too interesting, but it probably caters to what people in Omemee want. Great chicken balls....tender and juicy and not greasy at all. The Almond Guy Ding was actually pretty bad....this not very good and extremely salty dark coloured sauce. But it did have nice fresh pea pods. The chicken fried rice was so-soService was very friendly......we split a combination plate and she split it for us and put it on...
Four of us stopped in for lunch at about 1215 pm. Waitress tool our drink orders quickly and then our food order. Keep in mind that this is not a huge place but nor was it very busy even with only 1 waitress. We ordered simple foods, poutine, a western, 2 hamburgers all which were very tasty BUT it took almost 45 minutes to get the food on our table. We could not figure out nor did we ask, what could possibly be the holdup but 45 minutes after sitting down, we recited our food and them it came in dribs and drabs. This small family run restaurant serves some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is cooked fresh to order so takes a little time but well worth the wait. All food is served very hot and fresh and very tasty. The chicken balls are juicy and full of chicken covered in sweet and sour sauce. The chicken chow mein is the best I've ever had. The Chicken Lo Mein and the Chicken fried rice were very good too. Portions were large and prices were very reasonable. Well worth the 20 min. Drive from Peterborough. Will definitely come back again.
We have eaten here a few times , every time it has been very good. This time we ordered the dinner for 6. There was only 5 of us and we had a bunch to take home with us, so we probably should have just done the dinner for 5 if we didn't want the delicious doggy bag.The chicken balls had large pieces of chicken in them and were not full of filler like other places do . My husband and I eat here occasionally when we don't feel like cooking dinner. We have never been disappointed !!! They have the best Chinese food we have ever had, especially their chicken balls. Portion sizes are great, always have enough left over for lunch the next day. Service is great too !
Stopped here for lunch today while my wife and I were out for a motorcycle ride. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich, I had a clubhouse sandwich. Both were good in quality and quantity. The service was very good. I think it was the owner's son. I will return.
Right along Hwy 7 in downtown Omemee between Peterborough and Lindsay. Handy spot while travelling through. Good lunch food and diary products, such a ice cream. Recommend this spot when looking for something simple and reasonably fast.
