In the past few months, we've visited this place twice, both times to enjoy live jazz and dance music. The drinks were reasonably priced, and with the potluck food bar, some of the dishes were quite delicious. The service was good as well. The music was fantastic, and the dancers were captivating to watch. Most patrons seemed to come for the music, chatting in between sets. Robbie is still evolving, and I'm pleased the building was preserved. While it may not have the elegance of the Fox Theater, it offers everything you need when the music is right.
I've been to Robbie's House of Jazz about a 1/2 dozen times. I have been following top Jazz players and they seem to show up for mini concerts here. It is a great place, not too big where you feel intimate with the music. It is managed very nicely. I will continue to go to more Jazz gatherings there in the future. Luckily I see upcoming events on Facebook that lets me know when some of the top musicians will be there and with who. There is a limited selection of beer and wine, but the atmosphere and music makes up for it. Bob
This jazz club, just opened in spring 2009, offers absolutely first-rate jazz in a wide range of styles. The house band, led by Robert Edwards, is made up of some of the finest musicians I've heard in a long time, and their rapport with one another is stunning. The atmosphere is welcoming and laid-back. I'll definitely be returning every time I'm in St. Louis.
not sure how this place remains in business. went to a band and there were only 7 people there (I think 2 of them were with the band); limited wines, spirits and beers; only generic chips, Bretzels..etc. are offered. the only drawback is the situation in Old Webster Groves. The Reunion Jazz Quintet performed, and the venue was packed! The music was fantastic, the venue was nice, and the $15 cover charge for a few hours of amazing jazz was very reasonable.
