What a gem of a deli they have here in historic downtown Waukesha! It was Friday evening in autumn and my dining companion and I were on the hunt for some warm and toasty soup for dinner. We were in the Brookfield/Waukesha area and a quick search on Yelp led us to Rochester Deli. They have menus but it's an order at the counter situation. Unlike many delis, however, they do have a full blown dining room for you to enjoy your meal (they'll deliver it to your table). This place is absolutely amazing. They exceed expectations everytime. I'm the kind of person that gets the same thing everytime because I know what I like but I've tried something different everytime because each time it's great. They do have gluten free bread, and I'm not sure if they make it themselves or what but it's the best gf bread I've ever had. Reasonably priced especially for the quality and amount you get. Can't recommend it enough. I especially appreciate that they have signs letting you know where to order ect. HUGE help with the first time, especially if you have anxiety about that sort of thing.
This place is so good, I visited twice. I?m a Pastrami sandwich fan. I?m trying to have it where every I go. I had it in many famous places such as Scwartz?s Deli in Quebec. I think this was the best Pastrami so far. There is only one thing that I can propose as improvement but I have mixed feelings about it. The bread was not fresh but I think it made the sandwich better. You may find it weird but you will understand when you try it. Btw, it is very crowded place so be early during lunch time.
Lots of people rave about Rochester Deli and while I normally never write reviews I felt the need. I ordered a plain corned beef sandwich and my son had the reuben. Extremely disappointing for a $15 sandwich. Very little meat and it was fatty. Have had corned beef at lots of well known delis around Milwaukee and this was by far the worst. Not impressed. Went for the chicken dumpling based on a previous picture. Mine looks NOTHING like that. More celery than dumplings, barely any chicken and too much thyme. I went for the soup which is why 3 stars. The chicken ceaser wrap was great.
A wonderful local business here in Waukesha! I love the sandwiches and always seem to forget to take a photo before they're gone! The Reuben is my favorite.
Love this place, I don?t go as often as I?d like but their Reuben is always THE best. I also love the apple cheese panini, so good!
