Objectively, it was mediocre at best. From a friend's description expected to be more impressed, but it was more ordinary if anything. Traveled a distance found my local food establishments much closer to home having better tasting food comparatively speaking, i.e. Collard greens, Mac cheese, Whiting fish, Spare ribs, esp. the Jerk chicken (we had quite a sampling)... After leftovers will see if my initial impression changes. Perhaps they had an off night, or it was myselections--maybe it was my taste buds...so in fairness I MAY give them another chance by returning to sample other menu items before final decision. Having said that, the establishment was clean, friendly staff, organized mana...
If you want good soul food (especially smothered foods), this is the place to go. Finally was able to drive here myself today. Food is always hot, they have a huge selection of dishes and sides to try, and the portions are amazing. Parking can be a huge hassel though and they can get crowded (this was first time I caught them empty). My picks are the chicken (fried and smothered), pot roast, fried fish, mashed potatoes, collard greens and rice or Mac n cheese.
Great spot for some Soul food. The serving sizes are huge. Dinner plates come with 2 sides a main dish. They have a variety of meats to choose from, bbq chicken; jerk chicken, ribs, etc. I ordered Whiteys plate which comes with 4 pcs of fish, and 2 sides Mac cheese with cabbage. I also ordered yams, and black eye peas with a side of jerk chicken. Everything taste so good. The plates are filling delicious
The food was plentiful and delicious! Mac and cheese melted in my mouth and the whitings were seasoned and fried to perfection! My rice and peas didn't rate high. They were edible but were a little undercooked slightly hard to the bite in some parts. Could get 2 meals out of this. Picture taken after I already started eating. I’m from the south so when I tell you the chitlins was on point man and then I had the ribs one day I’m trying to get the fried chicken but every time I go it’s gone so that tells you it’s gotta be delicious. The potato salad is good. The greens are crazy good they should call them. Crazy greens because they’re delicious. I wish they sold cornbread.
Food was horrible, no condiments,refried fish and bland $40 dollar’s worth of food went to the trash. I don’t even do this but the disappointment, the best thing I got was the bottled strawberry lemonade.
Food was good I wish the Mac and cheese had more love in it but the BBQ ribs and yams was good. They give good portions yummy ?
