Then followed an outstanding Butcher's Breakfast which comprised dry-cured back bacon, Salt signature sausage, Fruit Pig black pudding and haggis, mushroom fricassée, two free-range eggs and house-made sriracha baked beans. We made a reservation online for a weekend brunch and were seated in the cozy far end section. The prices are high and the portion sizes are not generous. While the presentation of the dishes is great, the taste is lacking. The fluffy pancakes are average and not amazing, but the yogurt and compote stand out. The full breakfast is also average and not exceptional, with only the mushrooms on the plate being worth recommending. Overall, the restaurant is highly overrated and overpriced for the quality of the food offered. We loved it here. The staff were great and the food was wonderful. My husband had the full cooked breakfast and I had the smoked haddock with a chessy sauce and a poached egg absolutely delightful. The coffee was good as well. I could have eaten anything on the menu. It was definitely my sort of place.

Like its pun-packed menu and pancake-stacked plates, Salt is full of character and taste. Aside from a banging brunch, highlights included chic decor and stellar staff. My only regret? Not asking for a boozy version of the Dirty Chai Latte. Next time.
Brilliant spot, a real gem of morningside. Such friendly staff and great character about it. Food is extremely high quality, from bakes to butchery. Best full breakfast we’ve had, very high standard and quality! Lovely spot. We will be regulars.
The warm reception, prompt service, and delicious food at this restaurant make it a must-visit. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend it.
