A recent birthday lunch with a group of six friends turned out to be one of the worst meals we have ever had. The other members of the group had recommended the restaurant, having met there for coffee previously and enjoyed it. Clearly the restaurant has gone downhill. While the waitress was lovely and friendly, unfortunately the food was terrible. The zucchini fritters were very nearly burnt and hiding the worst of it by turning upside down on the plate was not the answer! The seafood bisque was a tasteless rubbery waste of food, with a tiny amount of brown liquid in the bowl and the potato soup was microwaved to death, so took 10 mins to cool down enough to eat. Rocksalt recently moved to only opening for breakfast and lunch but I was able to convince the owner to open of a night time to help me celebrate a special birthday with my partner. We had 32 adults and seven children and we had a mix of dietary constraints including coeliacs and nut allergies. Rocksalt devised a menu with a eight courses of which seven were gluten, nut and seafood free. The one diner still not covered was presented with courses designed to deal with her allergy and as a result we all ate without having to consider food impacts and everyone had a fabulous time. I just had the most Appalling experience I have ever had from the hospitality industry at this restaurant.I asked for an apple and cinnamon muffin, takeaway. I was handed a paper bag allegedly containing the purchased muffin. Sadly I did not feel the need to check the contents. On returning home I discovered that the muffin was burnt to black.Why would anyone do such a thing except out of plain spite. I hope the perpetrator is sacked.The place has certainly gone downhill in the decades we've been going there. That's the last straw.By the way i will justify the score of ONE on the basis that the coffee was excellent. My wife, recovering from a car accident and the discoverer of the burnt muff...
Just wanted coffee after an Asian lunch. Why not Rocksalt? Last time we ever set foot inside or near. Ordered coffee, minimum of $10 on card, no problem, get change from till. All okay. Now we witness a young (assume casual) staff member get bawled out in front of us. Had we not parked and paid for coffee,we would have walked out. Even bad coffees are better than supporting the arrogance and rudeness of a proprietor like that. Plenty of other places to enjoy coffee than a place that does not respect their staff. Not good enough Rocksalt.

Disappointing selection as at least two of the dishes (mains and desserts) on the menu list were not available and were not replaced by alternative choices. The menu needed adjustment or a board menu provided. We've dined here on a previous occasion which is why we returned but it has clearly gone downhill and not up to its former calibre.
I met a former colleague at Rock Salt for lunch, the first time I have visited in probably 20 years or so. Gone are the once crisp white table cloths giving way to a more casual atmosphere. I had a prawn dish which was ok but nothing special. The service was ok. Overall a pleasant lunch, but nothing special.
Good place for brekkie. Good range of choices. Quick table service. Young staff friendly, attentive & polite. Very good quality brekkie served to each of us. Good coffee. Tip - Book for inside seating on cold mornings/days. Glad we were inside.
Great family destination for quality dining in Belconnen. Love lunches and diners there. Great wine range for us, and drawing options for our kids.
