On a trip to Manitoba at the end of the day we stayed at the Rockwood Motor Inn and had occasion to have dinner at Le Petite Café, located in the hotel. We were surprised and delighted to find that this little restaurant was extremely popular with the locals and busy from 7;00 in the morning until closing time in the evening. Its popularity no doubt has much to do with the very good food served up, but probably as much with the very friendly and helpful staff that work in the restaurant. My entrée was chicken kebobs and they were excellent. We also had an opportunity to try -- at the suggestion of one of the locals -- their beef borscht and it was definitely a winner! Has anyone here taken a food handler`s course? I doubt it. No one in the kitchen or dining room had hair nets on infact one woman with bushy red hair had it hanging in her face without anything holding it back. Another grey haired woman came out of the kitchen with her hair hanging in her face.What homemade food? Definitely not the french fries nor the bacon on the salad. Gravy appeared to be packaged gravy which was put on my food sparingly. BORSCHT was below average.Bread was some yucky cheap store bought bread. Service was unprofessional. There are so many good restaurants in Stonewall we would never come back to this out dated restaurant.
Have eaten here on many occasions - for breakfast, lunch, supper and even for larger gatherings for retirements/birthdays. Food is very good and quantities are satisfactory. Never had a bad meal here. Deserts look VERY good - but have not tried them! As for the borscht - best around! Definitely a must! Menu has a good variety of selections. Had breakfast here on Sunday. For $7.50, 2 eggs, 3 pieces bacon or sausage, home cut hash brown, toast and coffee/tea. And a good size portion as well. After ordering, we had our meal in 5 mins. Le Petite in the Rockwood Hotel has great food at very reasonable prices. The service is almost always fast and efficient. Try the borscht as a stand along or with your meal. It is always fresh with lots of flavor.
Friendly staff in this busy place. Line ups on Fridays to get in tells you how popular they are! Food is consistently good with a pretty average menu.
The 100 mile burger was delicious ... Must try. The patty was juicy inside and has a crunch on the outside , the sauce was so yummy

I have heard great reviews of Rockwood Grill so My SO and I decided to check it out for our very first time last Friday.
