Wonderful setting right by the late and under the grand old trees that grow between the hotel and the lake's shore. There is not a more romantic place to dine, especially in summer when one can sit outside or under the hotel’s awning. Generally speaking food in Switzerland is excellent but not adventurous. Overall you find that most restaurants will have the same ten items, all done just a bit differently. The Hotel’s restaurant is no exception. There is Tartar, Carpaccio, Tomatoes and Mozzarella, Filet, Salmon Filet, etc… The four dishes that my table shared were all very enjoyable, but all lacked creativity. My dad is a local in the area, and we were after some nice fish on the lake. He had not been here for years but we were not disappointed here for a recent Sunday lunch lovely bright room, with some view to the lake over the terasse (which is too cold at the moment! . Service was lovely, efficient and friendly. And the food was great. Mixed salad to start with, excellently dressed, but the star was the fried Eglifillet really nice batter encasing fresh white fillets, and accompanied by browned potatoes and a house made tartare sauce. The beer garden is in a beautiful location and the best on the gold coast. It is worthwhile visiting for this alone. Problem is and always has been the service. Having two people working in the beer garden is not acceptable. Waiting 15 minutes to order a drink whilst the bar person takes care of the ice cream stand is not acceptable. The other staff member is try to manage customers wanting to pay for their food/drinks. There are plenty of yound teenagers in Küsnacht that would happily serve the ice cream while the service staff attend the bar and the kasse. We live in Küsnacht and all our friends feel the same. There is no excuse, give your customers the service they are paying for!
This is the kind of Restaurant that does not blow your mind but does not disappoint either. The location is nice, specially the proximity to the lake. The food is solid and the staff friendly. Ideal for a summer dinner with friends visiting Zuerich, or lunch with the family. I strongly recommend to checkout the attached beer garden for an aperitivo, before heading to the restaurant. All in all nothing mind blowing but absolutely fine, would come again. Side note. Instead of taking the car, I suggest the scenic boat trip from Zurich to Kuestnacht. The restaurant is located directly at the ship station.
Das Restaurant Sonne liegt direkt am See. Das Selbstbedienungsrestaurant im Garten ist gut organisiert, verfügt über einen Spielplatz für Kinder und vermittelt ein Sommer-/Urlaubsgefühl. Das Essen, das wir hatten (Flammkuchen und Frisky Planted Chicken), war leider zu fettig. Dem Flammkuchen mit Tomate und Mozzarella fehlten Tomaten, selbst nach dem Geschmack meines 9-Jährigen. Das knusprig gepflanzte Hähnchen war frittiert und ölig und mein Magen war danach nicht sehr glücklich darüber. Das Beste war der Maiskolben. Servicefreundlichkeit könnte verbessert werden.
Schöne Terrasse am Seeufer. Sehr guter Service; Der Patron und seine Frau sind deutlich zu sehen. Das Essen ist erstklassig: Wir genossen Kalbspaillard, Zürcher Kalbsgeschnetzeltes in Rahmsauce mit Rösti, Hechtfischfilets und unsere vegane Freundin war mit ihrem veganen Burger zufrieden. Feine lokale Weine. Die Preise sind hoch, aber dies ist die Goldküste des Zürichsees und die Aussicht lohnt sich.
We enjoyed our lunch on the lakeside after a short but warm hike from downtown Zurich. The terrace provided just enough shade for us to cool down and enjoy the view. Our waitress was truly forthcoming, the food well prepared and tasty appropriate for the price. You could tell that the ingredients were fresh and of good quality. We look forward to our next visit. Wonderful food served by attentive staff in an idyllic setting. The water view was spectacular and the wait staff very patiently let us stay as long as we liked to enjoy it. Be aware that it is quite expensive.
Well placed under old trees and directly at the lake the Biergarten of the Seehotel is a perfect spot during summer. Good selection of salat as well as fish meat.
