The service at Roti remains consistently disappointing. Even when ordering ahead, meals are rarely ready on time, and there's often a mix-up with the order itself. The staff turnover is high, and many employees appear visibly frustrated and unenthusiastic about interacting with customers. It's baffling that management hires people who lack warmth and seem indifferent to their roles. This is especially frustrating because Roti serves good food and is conveniently located. Significant improvements from management are urgently needed.
The food was okay, but the prices felt steep for dishes that seemed like they had been prepared hours ahead. I liked the concept of customizing your own bowl, but what I received didn’t feel very fresh. I was hungry, so I ate it all, but honestly, it was just average. I might try it again to see if my opinion changes. That said, paying $17 for a bowl and a drink seemed a bit overpriced, especially since the ingredients were just assembled in the bowl rather than made fresh to order. Terrible service, girl behind the counter was so unbelievably rude. When I asked what something was she asked if I had eyes and could see and that it was written on the glass in the most condescending way, well I was looking at the food over the glass I'm tall so no I couldn't see it without stepping back, but she could have said that without acting that way. Stopped in for lunch while in the area. Online menu says “hummus” and “lamb meatballs“…SOLD! I'M THERE! Unfortunately, they no longer serve the lamb meatballs — so that was a disappointment. Disgusting! I ordered a bowl with roti chicken and rice to go. Firstly, I’m not sure how it is done here, but I was not even given a back or smf where to place my to go order. The chicken was literally rotten and the texture of it was disgusting, it was just melting in your mouth and there was a feeling like someone already chewed it. I visited the restaurant to pick up a takeout order because the app wasn't functioning properly. Unfortunately, the staff were not very welcoming. I also discovered that they have two separate menus—one for online orders and another for in-store dining—and you're not allowed to order from both when you're in the restaurant. As for the food, it was just average.
If you're craving delicious Indian cuisine, Roti Skokie Dundee is definitely worth a visit. They offer a diverse menu with reasonably priced dishes. The service is excellent, featuring attentive and friendly staff. The only downside is that the restaurant can sometimes be a bit noisy.
