The Rubicon is a fine dining experience. Even on a freezing Canberra evening the restaurant was comfortably warm. We asked to dine under the 'fairy lights' towards the back of the restaurant and on the way through all staff said good evening and coats were taken with expertise.The food was top quality and beautifully presented on a range of plates which complimented the style of the dish. The wine selection was excellent and good to see a range of high quality Australian labels. The service was first class and unobtrusive but very 'in-tune' with the reason for the celebration. We found the food, wine selection and service to be excellent. Costs commensurate with the quality of all three. Not a large menu but one that would provide something for most tastes. visiting friends in Canberra on a Monday night in the middle of winter I wanted to treat them for being great hosts and they chose this restaurant. It is a local favourite with some loyal clients. Food is excellent and wine list is extensive but staff will advise. A minimal menu is usually a sign of good fresh produce and this doesn't disappoint. My only dilemma was pudding/dessert and I just couldn't decide on which home made ice cream to sample so they allowed me a tasting plate with fig and ginger, fennel, walnut & nutmeg, chocolate & caramel, sour cherries & armagnac, pistachio and last but not least, Earl Grey nom nom nom ... Rubicon is always good. We started with Rubicon oysters - in addition to the bourbon oysters, R is also offering wasabi oysters. both are culinary delights. We had beef cheek - the usual melt in your mouth meat dish; kingfish sashimi and gnocchi. all very delicious.Owen's team (including Owen's daughters) are spot on with service. Attentive, engaging, offering suggestions, and just generally offering great service.Rubicon is also excellent value for money. prices are very reasonable.If you want an excellent night out at one of Canberra's best restaurants, try Rubicon.

Was lucky enough to have my partner take me to Rubicon for my birthday and what an amazing fine dining experience!We chose the 5 course degustation menu pared with wine which was very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the wines and food, providing a brief but detailed explanation of each wine and why it had been chosen. The food was absolutely superb! The restaurant was cosy and intimate with fairy lights on the ceiling. A very magical touch. I would definitely recommend Rubicon and hope to return very soon.
Everything was spot on...food, service, timing, taste atmosphere, selection of wines, coziness, sense of caring about what's being presented, attention and correct distance between tables. The feeling that you can get incontestable food that will suit every taste and staff that can adjust to your needs is rare and i'm happy to say iv'e experienced it here. Recommend your own choice tasting menu with matched wines you'll never find better value or quality.
a somewhat hidden approach opens a series of rooms with a somewhat close east feeling, but in the did a beautiful modern Australian menu, and a very extensive wein list. the long track was excellent. very good food, as above with the best that could be found in the inner of sydney. an amazing sound, and already recommended to travel friends on this way.
Fine dining atmosphere with attentive staff presenting a high quality and varied menu with multiple choices from starters to entrees to mains & desserts. Restaurant was happy to accommodate our BYO preference (at $15/bottle) for our special birthday celebrations for daughter and son-in-law. Quiet and comfortably warm atmosphere on a clod Canberra night.

Pleasant venue with excellent service, great food and good menu selection. the only issue we had was the fairly hefty corkage fee per bottle of wine. Other than that we are happy to recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking an enjoyable night out.
