Booked table at Medway Inn, easy enough, arrived at establishment, greeted by a young lady, informed her of booking, shown to table, drinks and food ordered at bar, 3 drinks £15(J2O, raspberry voddie n lemonade Shipyard ale). Asked if were members(sadly no, 10% discount for members) Food ordered, 2x Cow n chicken bun Tuna melt jacket spud, side of onion rings, £38.65, tuna melt spud was a hit with daughter, Cow n Chicken bun, never tried before, didn’t know what to expect, how ever was very nice, well cooked, ample portions of chips to accompany. Popped along for a curry with Management and her friend. Nice evening, great service and very friendly, and lovely place. However, I have to be honest, the food was very bland. Bell pepper stuffed with lamb and herbs starter, very tastless, you wouldn 't know there was lamb in it, and I have no idea what the chefs special herbs contain, but I can only guess at three different types of flour. Chicken madras and mushroom rice for main, rice was OK, but the madras was the same consistency as chinese takeaway curry sauce, minus any flavour, but at least it had a little heat just a little, nowhere as much as a madras should have. Sag Aloo was also devoid of flavour, and very watery, like the spud...
As others have experienced, the customer service here isn't very good at all. We had a sit down meal for a family members birthday. The food was mediocre, but the very surly and sour staff really do spoil the dining out experience. If you are used to eating out where the staff try to enhance your experience, to get you to come back, and for you to continue spending money, you will be massively disappointed. There's are plenty of other restaurants you can go to, where the staff actually make you feel like they want you there. Would not recommend.
Went in to collect a takeaway, my order wasn't ready so I was told to go and wait in the pub, I refused as was there to collect my dinner and not stand in a pub on my own as a young female. Perhaps need to rethink set out if offering takeaway as not everyone is going to want to wait in a busy pub. Food was very disappointing, wasn't hot, lamb passanda tasted funny and the lamb seemed to be very chewy (perhaps cheap meat used) also had lamb tikka starter and the meat again was very tough.
I have always used Ruby's as my go to Indian take away and I have NEVER had a bad meal....but tonight (and the previous meal we ordered) have been OFF THE CHARTS good! The lamb in the vindaloo literally melted in the mouth, the containers were packed with food, and delivery was quick please carry on doing what you are doing and you have a customer for life here!!!
Sadly, on Saturday it did not meet our usual expectations. The food was bland, a very loose sauce it was watery. Lacked substance and flavour. the price had gone up, so disappointing all round. We will be going elsewhere for curry night!
Had a wonderful Sunday lunch at Ruby's today. Excellent service, lovely atmosphere, nicely prepared and presented food, good portions and great value, especially with the earlybird discount. Will definitely return soon.
What alovely roast we had lovely starters mains n deserts there was ten of us food was gawjus staff friendly lovely decor n was nice n cosy
