Have to visit the oldest restaurant in London if you visiting. It carries that historical feeling being there and appreciating the stories those walls have heard. The leg of rabbit and the steak and kidney pie were amazing. There was no room for appetizers during that visit. The rabbit was tender and had no gaminess at all. It was like a leg of tender chicken. The winner was the steak and kidney pie though. Excellent crust and flavor. Paired with some mustard for a kick is the way. I had lunch solo at Rules. When I visit London, this is always my premier choice. As a female dining solo, you are looked after and not ‘hidden in a corner’. The food was excellent as usual, started with the scallops, then the chicken and mushroom pie. Being Wimbledon season, they have some special desserts so I couldn’t pass up the strawberries and cream! When visiting, you will always find attentive and courteous staff, and I always feel they are truly invested in me having a delicious experience. Didn’t have time to pop upstairs for a drink this time, which was a shame. If you have not been to Rules yet do go!
Visiting from the U.S. read several reviews that were negative that gave us pause to go here. We ended up going and happy that we did. Yes it’s but the food was very good. Had the chicken leak and mushroom pie (it was great). Daughters and wife had the rump steak and really enjoyed. My son had the smoked chicken salad. He loved the smoked chicken only complaint was that there wasn’t enough chicken. Finished with the sticky toffee and ice creams. Solid. Daughter is 10 and they asked her age as we came in (can’t have 9 or younger after 7) so they do enforce that fwiw.
Simply fantastic experience! If you want to immerse yourself in a perfect British setting, this is the perfect place! Impeccable service from start to finish, very attentive and friendly staff! We arrived a little early and took advantage of the cafeteria for an aperitif, they offered us some excellent dried fruit At dinner we ate divinely and the desserts were also fantastic. The Halibut and the courgette and pea soup are excellent, the cheese plate is served with excellent biscuits and we highly recommend both the Pudding and the Crumble

The four of us came from many miles across the country to meet at Rules, we thoroughly enjoyed the service and food and congratulations to our waiter who has just completed 10 years of service there … we all hope to be back with you soon
We all enjoyed an absolutely fabulous evening in the private dining room. The food was exceptional and the service from Roberto and Casey was top-notch, they both made us all feel very welcome and at-home. We can't wait to find another excuse to visit again! Many thanks.
I love the atmosphere! The restaurant has so much history and was represented well in the deco. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommended it, and will come back!
You should try working here. In 1991 I started a waitressing job. I spoke to a customer politely and was asked to leave without good reason.
