We found the Safen Hof Restaurant by accident as were driving through the village.It looked lovely from the outside so we stopped and had lunch. The interior is gorgeous, in a typically Styrian style and the food and service were excellent! Not only that, but the prices were very reasonable for the quality and size of the portions!As cat lovers we enjoyed the added compliment of being joined by Fridolin, the 13 year old house-cat who was extremely well behaved and just lay down next to us on the bench.We enjoyed our lunch so much we booked for seven people on the Saturday evening as an escape from the nearby Rogner Hotel in Bad Blumau where we were, unfortunately, staying.Once again the Safe...
Genießen Sie eine köstliche Mahlzeit in diesem charmanten Restaurant. Trüffel hatten Saison, also haben wir Glück, Pasta mit weißen und schwarzen Trüffeln. Mein Mann hatte ein köstliches Ochsensteak und Freunde waren entkommen. Alles war köstlich, auch das lokale Weinen. Die Preise waren sehr vernünftig. der Service. Es fehlte ein etwas mürrischer Kellner. aber die Kellnerin war sehr nett. Ich würde ein Essen in diesem steirischen Restaurant empfehlen.
Beautiful small hotel restaurant in the centre of this charming Austrian village. Local ingredients (artichokes specially grown nearby!) and interesting original cooking. We had salads to start, perfect lamb done with thyme, artichokes and olives, and a sorbet to follow. Accompanied by local wine chosen on the advice of the (English) maitre d'. Also available is a tasting menu we will try next time. A wonderful meal in a delightful setting.
We ate here at the recommendation of the staff in our hotel (Schloss Obermayerhofen) and we were not disappointed. Our only problem was that the menu was hand written and hard for us to decipher, but the server was helpful and the food was great.In this part of Austria, oil pressed from sunflower seeds is a local speciality, and the soup in the Safenhof that was made using this oil was really super. If you find a little free time try to visit Safenhof in Bad Waltersdorf. Easy to find because it is near the church. The food is great and most of the products are comming fro the surrounding. Choose food from Styria and you will be very suprised about the quality. Also the local wines such as Welschriesling and Sauvignon Blanc are great. If you have the possibility reserve a table on the outside garden close to the small river.
As i wrote in my hotel review. This hotel charges almost 30 euro for a main course with a local fish from the lake. Taste was okay, but not very special. For 30 euro i expect something special. THey had some awards from the past maybe it was better then. My fish was undercooked, sent back and no apologies from the host. Would pick another place next time.
Wir kamen auf unserer Reise hierher. hatte die Rinde, was in Ordnung war. Das Beste gab es an diesem Ort und es wurde speziell für die örtliche Wüste zubereitet. Ich weiß nicht mehr, wie der Name lautete, aber es war unglaublich. es ist wie. ein gehackter Pfannkuchen. Wenn ich das nächste Mal hier vorbeikomme, ist das das Einzige, was ich essen werde.

I booked this hotel, but we decided to go to Jennesdorf instead. I wanted to see it as I read so much about it. We had there café late and apple strudel. It was superb. Great place with a lot of Austrian character and great service. Also ideally positioned in centre of Bad Waltersdorf. Would definitely return..
