The hotel has such an excellent location, with views of the yachts and water. The waiting staff are excellent too they buzzed around helping people on what became a very busy lunchtime crowd. Despite arriving dead on 12 noon, with only 2 other tables...filled at that point, we waited 50 miniutes for the food. We could see the poor waitresses shifting from foot to foot nervously, and checking on the kitchen every few minutes. Can't blame them. So what was the kitchen scenario? I ordered lamb shanks in a roghan josh sauce witih coconut rice. An unusual combination, I admit, but I had hopes. The lamb shank was tender, but that sauce! It was as if they had cooked up a big pile of mushy tomatoes...
We ate in the Bellerive Waterfront hotel bistro section. Usually a bistro signifies a step above pub food but this was pretty much poor quality pub food. Only two steaks on the menu, both serged with chips, deep fried onion and a grilled tomato. At thirty two dollars for a scotch fillet, if you wanted salad you had to pay an extra seven fifty. Having been on a multi day hike i was craving steak so reluctantly ordered the scotch fillet. Asked for medium rare, really got medium, but the worst thing was the fact the plate was three quarter piled high with chips. Even a builders labourer couldnt eat that number of chips, was equivalent to family serrve at the fish and chippery! This is a cheap t...
Had a little celebration for a birthday with some friends on a Friday night. I found that the service was terrific and the food even better. Everyone one had a great meal, be it steaks, chicken or fish. The Pork steak was just so tender...and the squid rings also. The biggest negative is parking as this area is becoming a bit of a eating hub, but if you have parking karma (good thoughts) then you may not have to walk to far.
I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews below because we had a very nice lunch here. We had lunch upstairs in the Waterfront Hotel Bellerive with a table with a great view overlooking the water. The service was good and the meal extremely generous...for the price. Went for an early dinner. Service was average and we had to ask 3 times for our drinks to be served. Salmon was well cooked and presented appealingly. Lamb shanks were not hot enough and a bit dry. Great views of the yachts. Could be an excellent restaurant if the service and the food were improved
We were well looked after by friendly competent staff. Meals were edible but could only rate as average. Chicken pasta was a tad sweet and lacked chicken. Pork schnitzel was overcooked and a little oily.

I recently enjoyed a delicious lamb dish with flatbread, salad, and couscous at the end-of-the-year dinner. The meal was served with a side of squash and it was absolutely delightful.
