I went to this place with my girlfriend, she spoke highly of the food having been there before. We ordered the sammys platter for 2 people. I was surprised with the time that the food was ready (so quickly) but I didn't care. When we had the food on the table, I was disappointed with the fries, they were so bad. The battered flathead was nice, so were the fresh king prawns and the oysters.The crab was empty and lacked flavour.I called the waitress over and complained about the crab, but the only thing that she was able to say was sorry but the meat is in the legs. My first time to Sammys at Glenelg with a party of 5 ladies. Well the location is great no complaints there - we were met by a lovely waitress who seated us. After looking thru the menu we decided on an Aussie platter and started with a bottle of champers - 1 of 2. There wasn't a long wait before these platters arrived and were placed on towers keeping them up and off the table (great idea). Bubbles poured we started on our feast and a feast it was. It was delicious seafood bursting out every where!! Nothing was over cooked and cold selection fresh. It was the best seafood I've had in Adelaide I thoroughly enjoyed my meal -the bubbles were constantly topped up - staff young and friendly...
We purchased a Scoopon voucher for 4 people as we had heard that the seafood was very good. We were however very disappointed on two fronts. Firstly the service is downright non-existent. The staff don't seem to have much idea at all - most of them seem to be untrained.We ordered the wine which was fine, but the spirit order was overlooked and we had to call someone over to find out what had happened to the order.The garlic bread was great, but the dips lacked flavour and were disappointing.The Seafood Platters which were the Scoopon offer were plentiful however the idea of having hot and cold portion on the one plate didn't work - the cooked seafood was limp and cold when it was served.Gree...
IF you are looking for great seafood in Glenelg don't go passed this restaurant we had 2 Sammy players between 6 people and was plenty to with a good variety of seafood. Absolutely appalling. Service Is terrible.No one knows what's going on. Waited 50mins for our first Drinks and that was just the beginning of it. We were out for a special occasion which was completely ruined. Worst dining experience ever. Everyone that was on our table of ten will never return.
Went to Sammies last Saturday for lunch and ordered a whole Lobster Mornay. The Lobster was absolutely delicious.Marked down for very dated interior and terrible service from the trainee serving.But couldn't mark down more then one star as the food was amazing.
If we are to give the term 'fresh' any sort of application for Sammys seafood, then we would be reinventing the meaning of the word. $250 dollars for the platter that tasted like it had just been defrosted in a microwave - and not a very good one.

Dined here for the first time and had a seafood platter. Quite pricey for what it was. Seafood bland with little variation in what was on the platter.
