really bad experience. not sure what restaurant went on to these other reviewers because the staff was really not helpful. has been referred to what seemed to be the chef of the restaurant immediately, which means that the personal 't formed on allergens, but the manager clearly 't understand what vegan meant also. He told me to get a dish and he'd tell me if they could make it vegan. I explained we could be here all day to go through the menu, but he insisted. I went, of course, directly to the sweet dishes to which he said no (to all! because they have flour in them. I tried to explain that flour has nothing to do with veganism, but he did not understand. Had great meals here in the past but ordered a takeaway this evening and it was a bit disappointing. £50 felt steep for what we got. The butter chicken honestly tastes exactly like heinz tomato soup with some chili! It was also chicken tikka meat.So although not unpleasant it was nothing like a butter chicken. My partner's lamb korma was also not like a korma, no coconut flavour. I also found the pakora too cardamom-y but that could be personal preference. The nans were decent but I do think the ones we had eating in in the past were nicer, fresher. Unfortunately probably won't be back.
We have been going to Sanam off on for over 30 years, more recently for the set lunch menu. Over that past time, we have always enjoyed our experience there never came away hungry. Last night we went for dinner there with friends our findings were a bit different from the past, the food was of very good quality 9 out of 10, the restaurant ambiance was very good 9 out of 10, but unfortunately, the portion size was a bit on the small side! so only 6 out of 10 for portion size. So we will probably not return for the dinner menu but may still return for the set lunch menu.
Called here on Tuesday evening. It was a good job I arrived when I did because very soon the tables were filled. On speaking to the owner after the meal , he explained that they do at least 100 covers on a weekday . My meal consisted of , 2 poppadoms with onions chutney. 2 Fantastic Onion Bhaji with side salad. A moist very very flavoursome Chicken Jalfezi with Pilu rice . 1 Chapati. Washed down with a pint of Cobra. Everything was well presented and tasted spot on . The staff all were a credit to themselves and the restaurant. I highly recommend the SANAM.

Disappointing visit. Whole place was smelling of B.O and so was our waiter, not what you’d expect at the beginning of a dinner shift. No atmosphere at all, and felt very awkward. New renovation is beautiful, but seems the charm has gone. I also noticed when I left that at the back of my top there was curry sauce stains all over the back and sides of me. Obviously from a dirty seating area as it did not match what I had eaten. Used to enjoy coming here but after this visit I can safely say I won’t be back.
I have frequented this restaurant for nearly 30 years and since the refurbishment it has changed for the worse. Menu is much smaller with many old favourites gone and the portions are smaller with prices up. How you can justify £6 for a starter with 3 tiny pieces of chicken is beyond me. The quality of food is excellent don't get me wrong but it's no longer the great experience it once was. Overpriced. I won't be back for a while.
Vegetable pakora brittle when you cut into it, and dry, lamb kahari no flavour in the lamb they don't marinate it, the sauce no Flavour stood out, all bland, the garlic nan bread sogging in butter dripping all down my hands, no passion went into the food, the service was outstanding, very polite and helpful, when I last rated this place I gave it 5 star ratings,
Stopped in for a late meal with my son. Beautifully decorated and welcoming interior and very friendly staff. Impressive full size bar at one end and nice choice of quite intimate as well as larger family sized tables. Food was excellent and full of flavour. Service excellent.

they need to ask the personal what is vegan, but they are incredibly helpful. the simple naan is vegan and the daal is so good. in any case a good place to go with the family.
love this place! many dishes can be made vegan, but they need to ask which. the personal is helpful and knowledgeable on the food. our favourite place for curry in falkirk!
