So Sandpiper likes to toot their own horn as being upscale dining in Sun City. I would call their food palatable at best. Their food is bland and mushy and not seen such poor quality in any upscale restaurant I have ever been to. Maybe dive bar quality at best. They like to talk about the prices being as low as McDonalds, and I would take a Big Mac over their burger any day of the week. I understand that it is mostly retired people that go there, but even retired folks like good quality food that is not mush looking and tasting like 2 week left overs. I will have to say their Chicken Parm is their best dish but it has room for improvement. They need new management and a new head chef to give...
*Review from April 2017* When you walk in the door the smell of mold hits you like a wave. The decor looks like it hasn't been touched since the 80s, cracked paint and dated furniture. The chairs have no support, and come on computer desk chair wheels. Each table is covered with a brown paper to keep the table knapkin clean. It looks like you're dining at a kids restaurant when the patronage is all elderly. Looks cheap. The food is bland at best, lukewarm and found a hair in my food at worst. Each person might get a different color plate, or a plate with designs. My salad was room temperature, wilted lettuce with a garnish of black hair. We were two couples out for an early dinner on a Wednesday. Fortunately had a window seat which was nice. Fresh, warm bread was brought to the table which was good. Salads do not come with entree which was disappointing. I made a poor choice of the chicken piccata. Very bland meal. My husband had the chicken cordon bleu which he really liked. The green beans were cold and the baked potato was WAY overdone. Our friends both had the mussels marinara which they loved. My biggest complaint was service. 2 hours for a quick dinner is insane. We could never find our server and dirty plates sat in front of us for a very long time. Prices aren't bad, but they need more help.
Enjoyed our first visit to sandpiper, were seated immediately by a very friendly staff member, our waitress Jamie was friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job of taking care of us -and now to the food ....... Delicious . I had the baby back rib special and they were- fall off the bone, with the right amount of sauce , meaty and flavorful,. My wife had the coconut shrimp and loved them. A food service worker at Sandpiper Grille in Sun City Center has tested positive for hepatitis A, according to the Department of Health in Hillsborough County. ABC Action News has learned, the restaurant abruptly shutdown after health inspectors issued 36 violations including the presence of a rat, rodent droppings, and roaches. Inspectors also warn foods like shrimp, sausage, coleslaw, and ranch dressing were stored in potentially hazardous temperatures that could make you sick. ENJOY
0 stars , represents the RENTER . A zero on all fronts . Ran a potentially great place Bunkers) into the ground due to ignorance inexperience. No idea or concept of hospitality industry. His response to any customer issue was I don 't care then go over to table and throw any all workers under the bus regardless that it was his procedures that created the problem the first place . Not the first business he 's failed and I 'm sure he will do it again if given the chance .
We ate at Bunkers last night, hoping to help out the establishment get back on its groove after the Hepatitis incident. But, as I looked at the carpet and saw that it is not only filthy, ripped and torn and stained, there was black mold growing all around the windows on the floor under my feet. If you want to keep your customers, you must step up your game. We will not be returning until the owners clean the place up. Sharon K
Went to take my sister and brother-in-law there for dinner tonight, expected a wait they said 30 minutes, several people were waiting 45 minutes when they told them it would be 15 minutes when they were called they were told they had ran out of ribs. Outbreak of Hepatitus A. Filthy place! 39 Health Department violations found at this restaurant. Had to get immunized because I made the mistake of eating there. Bathrooms are filthy, carpet is filthy and the Owner is as lazy as they come. Eat or drink here at your own risk!!!
