What can I say? It was an amazing experience with the bak ku teh, Sarawak kolo (dry) mee, han chin peng, pork liver soup, braised pork belly noodles, garlic vegetable dish and cool chrysanthemum tea. The chilli condiments went really well with the dishes. Well done! The cost was not pricey as one would expect it to be. However, the joint is rather small and you have to be early to get a place inside. They do have outdoor seating, but as it is winter now, outdoors is for the brave of heart. But then, hot soup dishes can always warm you up but you will have to eat up quick before the cold gets to the food. Come late and you may have to queue for a place. What is impressive is the sheer variety of its menu. The ambience is sacrificed for the quality and speed of the tasty meals that the kitchen churns out. The place is almost always crowded with lines forming outside sometimes - a sure sign that the food is great. The kolo mee makes me teary and long for the hawker fare of Malaysia/Singapore. You have a full variety of different meats and "toppings". There is the standard minced meat or you can go for the braised pork belly - my favourite though not quite my cardiologist's. The chicken rice is a hit with the kids and so are the colorful drinks - try the bundung (a rose-flavoured milk drink).
Quite an unusual place. There is free soup. Water and hot water is also free, you help yourself the the soup and the water. There is also yummy ginger chilly as used in chicken rice, and cut chillies to serve yourself. There is a variety of dishes and the noodle servings are plentiful. I liked the taste of both dishes that were ordered. The food came within 5 minutes. Will definitely visit again.
We have been here a few times now, always midweek, as the queues on the weekends are too big. They also make their own noodles mid week. Even then it's always busy.The Laksa, Noodle soup and Special Mixed meat noodles are all good. Condiment station available to add chilli sauce, soy etc.Quick service, large portions. Went there for a quick lunch during rush hour.I was told to sit on a small table for one, and a few minutes later I was told by another staff member that the table was reserved for another patron.I left without having to try the food, so I can't comment on the food quality, but the service is incredibly rude.
Large portion at a reasonable price. Be prepared to queue during peak hours. Not many tables available so customers usually takeaway.
Easy to order take out. The place is usually quite packed for lunch. Need to be early to get seated if you want to try out the food.
