I enjoyed this place but to say my expectations were exceeded is a stretch. The chicken sandwich's best attribute was the homemade part of it. This tasted like something your grandma would make you after not seeing you for awhile. The lemon pepper was slight but there. I also enjoyed the various in house made hot sauces provided at each table. My peanut butter dessert was ok. Most intriguing thing of this place was the staff told me about an open mic storytelling taking place in the evening. Sounded cool to say the least.
Food is good but I'm tired of places trying to up charge for everything. I ordered a fried green tomato biscuit sandwich the other day, and requested that the pimento cheese be put on the side. The guy charged me two extra dollars. When I complained, he said any substitutions are charged. I told him it's not a substitution. I simply want the cheese on the side instead of on the sandwich, and he still insisted on charging me. Complete inflexibility to accommodate requests is just ridiculous. Plenty of other places to go.
Been coming here since they opened in '13. Over the years it has become such a special part of my life. My partner and I try to come at least once a week and look forward to seeing the friendly staff and tasting the delicious food served here. I highly recommend the dinners they host about once a month. They could probably use one or two more tables (but I 've never had to wait for a table) try the specials!!!! Thank you SBK for making my life more delicious !
The coco collard melt is bursting with flavor and surprisingly filling. It was a fun mix of different textures and foods from different cultures pickles and red onion, Indian chaat mix, and delicious braised collard greens. It's a little difficult to eat with everything heaped on but very yummy. It's the only thing that doesn't have a price on the menu but it's $11. Remarkable food from wonderful people. Casual laid back ambience. Somehow, after all these years, they continue to come up with new specials and baked goods that stun me into moments of silent enjoyment. Creative comfort food from masterful artisans of their crafts. Thank you for all the years of deliciousness!
Pleasant staff and okay food, but insanely overpriced for average sandwiches, pastries, and coffee on the far north side. No view, no prime location, hard chairs, no frills, plus counter ordering one at a time with menu posted on a board. So, $80 (including tip) for two for that? Won't be a second time.
What a nice, neighborhood place to stop at after a short walk. The place is casual and the service great. While the sandwich and Troutmaster made for a good lunch, the sweet treats looked amazing! We're rushing home to taste test: caramel banana cake , almond croissant and a blueberry upside down cake.
Amazing rotating menu of specialties including ramen, oyster po boys, and hot chicken (to name but a few). Pizza on Friday is excellent and their bread is always delicious. A wonderful gem on the northside! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
We really liked the options here, such as creative sandwiches with a healthful twist as well as cocktails and mocktails. The service was friendly and prompt, and the decor is fun.
