Scandinavian Kitchen

I have visited Scandi Kitchen for a number of years, and I understand from social media how important it is to the owners and how much pride they have. However, my recent experience today left me so disappointed again and I'm beginning to slowly distance myself as a customer. My friend had the veggie meatballs which he found so unpleasant he didn't finish, granted this could have just been his personal opinion and the dish just wasn't for him. Fine. Me, however, the last time I visited I had one of the hot dogs and it was just.. a mess, the bun was falling apart but it was cheap and cheerful so I didn't really pay it much mind, still tastes good right? Went here for a late weekday lunch. It was absolutely packed for our visit, with a line out the door the entire time! The staff seemed a bit stressed as a result. We ordered a mushroom open-faced sandwich that was elegantly presented and tasted good. The vegetarian Swedish meatballs and mash were less elegantly presented but hearty and filling! Given the crowds, not an especially relaxing place to sit a spell, but a tasty lunch and authentic slice of Scandinavia in the heart of Fitzrovia.

Hallelujah!! These cream and almond filled beauties are heavenly delicious!! Please make sure to pop by for one (or more) of these Semlor buns when they are on the menu from January time onwards! And for the remainder of the year: don’t forget their open sandwiches, cinnamon buns, Swedish meatballs and all of the Nordic delicacies!! Pop by the cutest little shop downstairs before your head out and bring home even more goodies!! Highly recommended!

Food was amazing, as was the filter coffee, the cafe looks so nice and cosy inside and the staff were just lovely. The shop downstairs may look small but it's so packed with goodies we spent ages looking around. My only complaint is that I don't live in London to go regularly and also couldn't carry everything I wanted from the shop home! Reasonably priced Scandinavian cuisine is often difficult to find, so this place is an excellent discovery. We always try to call in when we are in London, including the shop, which is full of interesting imported goods. I particularly enjoy the open sandwiches (beetroot and pickled herring) and kladdkaka (chocolate cake). It can be a little chaotic (we were there on a Sunday afternoon) but it's certainly worth it

I’ve been a regular here for a number of years, and have recently noticed a decline in standards. I’ve certainly been here on Sundays before, but when I arrived at 3pm today I was informed that the kitchen closed at 3pm and they were all out of food! So all the shelves were empty 2 hours before closing time!? A poor showing, but sadly seems to be a trend…

This charming café and shop specializes in Scandinavian cuisine. Whenever we're in central London, we make a point to stop by for a drink and snack, as well as to browse the selection of unique Scandinavian food items in the downstairs shop that we can't find in our usual supermarkets.

I went to Scandinavian Kitchen for a breakfast toasted sandwich with chocolate milk (no orange juice). The coffee was also very good.

Great little find while visiting London. I had sandwich and salad which was delicious. Meatball special was popular too!
