We used to frequent this bar regularly over the past decade, but this was our first visit since the pandemic because it was my partner's favorite. The atmosphere we were accustomed to was cozy, laid-back, and with friendly service. We didn't have a reservation as it was a spontaneous celebration. Despite being dressed formally, we were scrutinized by the hostess, who seemed to be assessing if we belonged there. As a brown couple, we are familiar with this type of judgment from past experiences at other establishments. I'm disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. It was recommended by a friend but we were treated poorly by the rude host. She gave us unwelcoming looks and when we asked for a table, she said it was reserved, even though I had called earlier and was told they don't take reservations. When I questioned her further, she said she would be back in a minute but never returned. This place, which we had high hopes for and were willing to pay extra for, turned out to be just like many other mediocre restaurants in London. It's a shame.
What an amazing experience. The bar is a super nice mix of modern and classic. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The crowd is elegant and sophisticated with the occasional tourist at the bar who forgot to bring proper attire. Live piano performance when I was there. The drinks are pricey, however well worth (with service fee be prepared to pay 25 per cocktail). Definitely come back
With an impressive collection of fine spirits, dazzling decor, and of course, Gerald Scarfe's illustrations, this bar is truly beautiful. The cocktails are unique, the music is great, and the clientele elegant- all brought together by the knowledgeable and charming bar team. I had a great experience, and I can't wait to return. Fantastic. I love going to different bars and seeing what's on offer in London. Probably one of the best places to go in London. The menu is not cheap but it's not expensive for what you get. Fantastic setting, service, and drinks. Service is attentive, friendly and charming. Thank you.
This restaurant is a fantastic place with a grandeur and ambiance that harkens back to a different time. It's rare to find live music in a bar these days, making this the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the music, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere.
Wonderful atmosphere in a beautiful bar. The Scarfes images are really interesting but most importantly the cocktails were delicious (one off the menu and one traditional). Fabulous warm service.
This bar was a great oasis after a busy day of sightseeing and shopping. First class setting and drinks. A wonderful fraternal twin to the Gin Bar next door.
