For years, we had wanted to visit this bakery, but it was always closed whenever we drove by. Last week, we finally managed to stop in after having lunch at the Happy Clam. They close at 2 PM, so we rushed in around 1:15. Unfortunately, the selection was quite limited, consisting mostly of parbaked options like scones, fruit-filled twists, and a few loaves of bread. The woman at the counter didn't seem particularly interested in her job. I ended up buying a lemon-filled pastry, which was incredibly disappointing. Carol and Marc are two very kind folks that I had the pleasure of interacting with over the last several years during the summer at Schoolhouse Bakery. Their cinnamon rolls, whoopie pies, scones, and croissants are out of this world and some of the best I’ve ever had.It’s safe to say I’ll never find another Schoolhouse Bakery, and while I’m incredibly sad to see them close in October, I’m happy for them that they’re entering retired life. Had several pastries& bacon-cheeseburgers, always very satisfied with the food! It's a very honest place, with fair prices, and has a small garden with flowers and some outdoor seats. Don't expect a touristy welcome committee as a guest, but the owners are definitely good-hearted people, and many locals seem to appreciate the place (and me too)
After reading some of the reviews, we had set our tastebuds on a berry pie. We were lucky and were able to get a blueberry pie. It did not disappoint and was delicious! We’ll be going back to sample the other baked goods especially the giant cinnamon rolls. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
What a lovely and charming spot! The pastries, croissants, and triple berry pie were exceptional. The owners were a delight to chat with. This is definitely a place I’ll be returning to!
Stopped in today and got the most delicious loaf of anadama bread! Lovely folks behind the counter and kind, quick service. Will definitely be back!
Had another great experience at the Schoolhouse Bakery this morning. I’ll hate to leave Maine, Cran-Orange scones and Carol and Marc. Six stars.
