Booked a table for 15 and 2 high chairs at fairly short notice and the staff were super accommodating. We were given a side room to ourselves, which was beautifully decorated for the festive period and worked well for us with having 2 toddlers in the party. We had pre ordered our food and everyone just got their own drinks at the bar which made sorting the bill out at the end very easy. The staff on the day were very communicative and efficient. There was a bit of a wait for our first courses but we were told this would be the case upon arrival and it actually worked out well as it gave us chance to catch up with one another prior to eating. We have been to Harrogate several times and have never come across this bar. We say it as we passed the street. The name standing out so we went for a closer look. There was a large outdoor seating area but we chose to sit inside in a booth at the window. It was a Monday afternoon and was quite busy. We ordered cocktails **** Mary 2 for the price of 1. The girl asked how spicy I wanted it (nice to be asked) I choose spicy and it was it was perfect (would make it perfection if a stick of celery was added that is just my preference). Visited the Sprout on a misty, atmospheric day in December. We were drawn inside by the varied menu outside. The decor is modern and tight. We had the best fish and chips we had ever had. The fish was huge and the batter thin and crispy.. The scallops and prawn cocktail we had to start were excellent. Why not 5 stars? Well, they delivered a fish ciabatta in error but readily replaced this with the fish and chips. There was confusion over whether or not I had paid the bill (I had). Lastly, no traditional ales. All said though, a thoroughly enjoyable vist.
It was getting late in the afternoon I decided to shout up and say to my partner we were going to call somewhere in town for dinner to save her cooking when we got home.I chose the Pickled sprout in the Yorkshire hotel. Boy I’m glad we did Old fashioned favorites “Prawn cocktails” Which were superb and came with Gluten free bread for Sue as she has an intolerance Then a Sunday roast After much deliberation we chose the pork Again fantastic and one all gluten free All washed down with an Italian red Can’t recommend highly enough and staff were brilliant Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
The service at this restaurant was incredibly slow. It took 20 minutes before anyone bothered to ask us if we wanted a drink, and even after that, we had to ask twice to place a food order. The quality of the food was mediocre at best. The nut roast was awful, lacking any flavor. The sticky toffee pudding, which we had to wait 30 minutes for and had to request the dessert menu multiple times, was so hard that it couldn't be cut with a fork and tasted as if it had been overcooked in the microwave. We are unlikely to return to this restaurant.
The Sunday lunch was well presented and very tasty and I would definitely recommend the food. What lets this establishment down is the waiting staff. We had to ask for the dessert menu, nobody asked if our meals were enjoyable. We watched several other customers having the same problem. Some customers got up and paid for their food because nobody bothered to come with the card machine to let them pay. The team of waiting staff need to someone to clarify their roles and organise them.
We had a wonderful evening at the Pickled Sprout on New Year's Eve with a group of 14 people. We enjoyed our private dining room, which was a delightful surprise. Every dish we tried was delicious, especially the perfectly cooked steaks. The staff members were exceptional, being accommodating, friendly, cheerful, and efficient. They truly made our evening memorable and special. Thank you to all the staff at the Pickled Sprout.
Visited for an early evening meal. 5 of us were seated at a pretty spacious table. Service was a little unsure while still friendly, but having seen that this is a fairly new restaurant this can be forgiven. Our meals were all great the Sunday lunch was surprisingly filling!
