We had a great experience eating at the Seehof Restaurant in Herrsching. My wife had the the bass and I had the Schweinekrustenbraten. They were both very good and very traditional Bavarian dishes. The Schweinekrustenbraten (pork shoulder roast with skin) was very well done with a dark beer sauce and potato dumplings. It is really one of the better servings of this Bavarian specialty that I have had. The service was good. At first they said they did not have any open tables, but then found one for us. If the weather is nice, I would highly suggest the outside seating. It has a wonderful vier of the Ammersee.
We visited the Restaurant as a family of five. It was quite busy and we had to wait for a table to become free (of empty plates and glasses) It took a long time for someone to take our order and the food came after a long wait as well. Two of us had a mixed lake fish dish, which consisted of small pieces of fish fillets that had been overcooked and quite unpleasant a shame for a lakeside venue. This was pointed out to the waiter who shrugged his shoulders. I know Bavarian service is not known for it's efficiency but I'm afraid our visit was a low point of our trip to the area.
Die Atmosphäre ist typisch bayerisch und wunderbar. Die Lage ist direkt am See, sodass es im Sommer draußen im Biergarten super wäre. Heute war das Wetter jedoch kühl und extrem windig. Wir haben drinnen gegessen und der Service war gut. Unser Hund war unter dem Tisch willkommen. Das Essen war wirklich gut. Wir haben mit Suppe begonnen und dann eine Platte für zwei Personen bestellt. Ich wünschte, meine Schüssel wäre größer gewesen, denn die Suppe war so lecker. Wir hatten Maronen (geröstete Kastanien) und Apfelrahmsuppe. Fantastisch!
We tried to eat here but the man at the host stand outside waved a dismissive hand at us and walked away when we asked him if he spoke English. We tried a second time and he did it again. We had lunch here on a rainy day. We were inside and had views of the lake. Our wine was a lovely Franken Sylvaner, one of the best in our trip. Our waiter was super friendly and cheerful. The food was good. We each had the fish,
Ein gutes Restaurant vor dem Hotel Seehof in Herrsching am Ufer des Ammersees. Gutes Essen und Getränke. Große Auswahl auf der Speisekarte. Wunderschöne Umgebung. Ein Besuch lohnt sich. Parkplätze sind ganz in der Nähe.
I can't understand some of the negative reviews but perhaps we didn't sample enough of the menu. Our bouillabaisse was great a nice variation with a saffron pernot base. The views and location are fantastic.
