I ordered two large fish and two chips, along with one mushy peas, totaling £21.10. When I opened the order, I discovered that one portion of chips was missing, there was curry sauce instead of mushy peas (which I don't like), and there were two portions of fish instead of one. The fish was greasy and by far the worst I've ever had. I returned the extra fish and the curry sauce, expressing my dissatisfaction. I am currently waiting for the manager to call me back tomorrow to discuss the issue. If they can mess up a small order like mine, I can only imagine how they handle larger orders. This experience was truly shocking.
The staff at this restaurant were extremely rude and the chips were greasy and terrible. Despite the shop advertising an award on the billboard outside, these were some of the worst chips I have ever eaten. They were overly greasy and just tasted like oil. The woman who served me was also very unhappy and unpleasant. I can confidently say that I do not recommend this place and I will not be returning. I would rather drive to the fish quay in North Shields and go to Waterfront, where the food is better and the staff are much more pleasant.
Good chips, however, not the best for fish as they are small, priced high and often overcooked compared to Harbour View in Seaton Sluice. They have also made a strange decision (November 2020) where they have changed policy to only allow card payments above £6.00... especially strange during these times where most businesses trying to avoid cash and the transfer of COVID-19... will possibly lose them a lot of business.
Picked my order up, got home to find out there was no chips with the fish and chips (no chips) was dispointing. On top of that the jumbo fish, should of been called jumbo batter, the was a minium amount of fish and more batter. The food was just warm, I only live 5 mins away. I have used this chippy many times however I will not be going back until the standard improves.

Not only were items missing from our order, namely all the peas, gravy and curry sauces. The chips were awful, even though freshly cooked, they were dry and inedible, the fish was dry the batter greasy and the sausage came unbattered even though I corrected the server, when she read the order back to us. We will not be returning.
I usually recommend this seafood restaurant to everyone! However, I can no longer do so. If you do not enjoy working in a customer-facing environment, this may not be the place for you. My advice is, when a customer asks twice for something on their order, do not lie to them just to get them out of the way.
I don't even really like fish but from here *chef's kiss*. The black pudding and onion rings are also amazing. Good amount of batter and crunch. Server's are always friendly. Only slight criticism would be that the fish bites aren't always consistent size.
Nice food and the portion was decent (this time) however prices have gone up yet again and they seem rather expensive. OK I'm old and fish and chips is no longer half a crown but £7.80 seems like a lot.

Fishcakes need improvement they should be white potato with white fish and parsley instead of flour and potato a grey mush neither tasting of potato or fish!
Great Fish Shop Good Service and yes Card Payments Fantastic. The best tasting in the area... Love the cod bites too...
