Living in Europe with Indian tastebuds to cater is always challenging. It gets even tougher when you live in this small East German town. Thankfully, Sharmas Indian Restaurant in Ilmenau is one of the places which has excellent Indian food to offer. It might be the most authentic one but when talking about Germany this is as far as it goes when it comes to authenticity of Indian food. The Ambience is quite nice too with good decoration and soft bollywood gazhals playing in the background.

I came several times during a month I spent in Ilmenau and worked my way through a large part of the menu. Without exception, food was very good every time. The restaurant has a very relaxed and quiet atmosphere and the staff is friendly and attentive. If you are a fan of Indian food or just a change from the traditional German tariff that Ilmenau normally offers, then Sharma's is definitely worth a visit.

Letztes Wochenende war ich zum ersten Mal in diesem Restaurant und war angenehm überrascht, das Essen war wirklich lecker, das Ambiente gemütlich und der Service gut. Insgesamt ein empfehlenswerter Ort für alle, die echtes indisches Essen in Ilmenau probieren möchten.

The food was very delicious and the service was also very nice. If I stayed longer in Ilmenau, I would definitely return
