First night we spent here the receptionist says their lounge is open but next morning I cannot get in with my card and ask front desk and new receptionist first says it's only open on weekends. I was half asleep and went back after realizing it was Friday and then her next response was that its closed... I happened to walk past a manager and asked if it was open considering the differing responses and he said it was open and then walked me back to the desk where I was made a key to get in. I booked the Sheraton Metro Detroit airport and chose concierge level so they I would not have to worry about grabbing a bite to eat in the morning. I called down to the front desk asking where breakfast would be served. The woman said it served downstairs and they should have given me a coupon for breakfast. They did not do that, so she said to come down and she would give me a coupon. I got dressed and went downstairs only to be told that my concierge level, that I paid extra for, did not come with breakfast because I chose the AAA payment. Not sur...
On the second day of our event, three of the four rooms we booked were locked. When I inquired at the front desk about who could assist us, the front desk agent responded rudely, insisting there was no one available in the building. Her attitude was unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional, especially for someone in her position. Fortunately, a kitchen manager was able to help us unlock the doors, which meant that the front desk agent was not only unprofessional but also dishonest. We have reached out to the front desk manager to file a complaint, as this agent clearly should not be interacting with guests, but we have yet to receive any response. I used the DTW airport parking for the first time, and it will definitely be my last. After arriving at the shuttle waiting area, I called and was told that the shuttle would arrive in 15 minutes. However, it actually took 30 minutes for the shuttle to show up, and when it did, it was already full from another terminal (which makes you wonder why it even stopped). The driver mentioned that the next shuttle would arrive in another 20 minutes, but that was inaccurate; it took 35 minutes for the next one to come. If you enjoy waiting an hour when trying to get home, this might be a good choice for you. Otherwise, I would recommend exploring other local options.
Bed and pillows are super soft. No microwave in the room though..only in lobby. Food is rather expensive..around 15 for Sammy and fries. When there's kids in the pool screaming you're not getting any sleep. I could hear it clear as day on the 7th floor. Yikes. Pool curfew is 9pm. Staff is pretty friendly. There was one super rude guy but I haven't seen him in a while. Shuttle to airport is every 20min but there's a short time when it's every 30min. Airport is less than 10min away though. There's food walking distance like Bob Evans.. tropical smoothie ..leftys.. beirut.. Starbucks ..and a gas station with food inside. Not a bad stay.
As for my Marriott status, I received a breakfast voucher with a limit of $18. Unfortunately, the breakfast buffet—which was the only option available on weekends—was priced at $20. It seems unfair that elite members are unable to fully utilize their benefits. The quality of the spread they offered certainly wasn't worth the $10 difference, let alone $20. In fact, the free breakfast at a Fairfield Inn or Holiday Inn Express is superior to what was provided here. You could find a better breakfast at a gas station.
We only utilized the hotel shuttle service, and it was fantastic. The drivers were lovely and punctual. However, we had a less than pleasant experience with a staff member named Angie at the Sheraton, where we had to pay for the shuttle inside the hotel. I was disappointed that I couldn't find the TV remote. Are we expected to use our phones for that? On the bright side, I appreciated the affordable prices and the convenient location near the airport. Don’t forget to jot down your license plate number to pay for parking. The bar area was a friendly place to enjoy dinner. Windsor Bridge is about a 25-minute drive away.
