My husband and I just spent two nights at Sherwood Inn. The inn has an old Muskoka feel and it situated on a great spot on Lake Joseph. If you are looking for a traditional Muskoka experience you will find it here, not at the The Rosseau (Marriott), which is gorgeous, but has an entirely different feel. We saw only a few children during our stay. We had a premium Cedarwood room with a gorgeous waterfront view from a very large window. The king bed was very comfortable. There was no private outdoor space with this particular room, but that didn't bother us as there are a number of outdoor seating areas located throughout the property. I went last week to get away from the lousy food at the Marriott (sorry but the Marriott needs to seriously improve the grub there) and I had my 2 raucous grand daughters in tow so I was expecting a bit of a stink eye. Not so. The woman looking after us couldn't have been more caring, easy going about the mess and noise we were making, and more efficient in serving us. The food was death row meal delicious and the ingredients were obviously locally sourced and just harvested fresh. Need a change in the entree? No problem. I enjoyed every bite. The property has gorgeous old Muskoka lake views. I've stayed here in the past and can vouch for the rooms too. I'll definitely be back-can't wait. Ba...
I was here for a night with a few friends. Had dinner at Vintages. Started with the caesar salad. On the menu it said bacon was in the salad but there was so little it I had a hard time finding it. The dressing was good though. I also had the gnocchi. It was just ok. No real flavour popped out at me. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because we brought our own wine and they waived the corkage fee. Thought that was a nice touch. Would I go back? If i was staying at the resort, I would give the restaurant another go and try something else on the menu.
Had a buffet lunch and breakfast as well as a served dinner. All meals were terrific. Lunch had a great selection of cheeses, toppings and fresh salad items in addition to the main dishes - that day was pizza but excellent.Dinner was superb - it was table'hote style...had the steak which melted in your mouth. Dessert was a pumkin style crème brule...very good and very good service.It is pricey but given the location - with gorgeous views of Lake Joseph amongst mature pine and hemlock - well worth it. Had 2 wonderful meals from this place. My filet mignon was done to perfection and had a tasty array of roasted vegetables. My wife's stuffed chicken was also delicious and rave worthy. Excellent wine selection and good service in a peaceful and lovely setting. My only complaint would be that the carpet needed some vacuuming because there was food all over it, and we ate at the first sitting of the evening.
To a degree, we enjoyed our meals at the Vintage Restaurant attached to Sherwood Inn but, were disappointed with the tepid-to-cool temperature of the breakfast buffet. After three mornings, we were glad to be going home. Pity!Dinners had exceptional flavours and were hot when they arrived. Would have stayed hot if the plates had been warmed ahead of time.Maybe summer is a better time to go there!?
The Sherwood Inn is a great place for a great fresh meal in Muskoka. The setting is beautiful and the food was nicely presented, very flavorful, and fresh. The fresh pickerel was excellent, as was the seafood risotto. No problem recommending this venue for a lovely meal.
We stayed overnight at Sherwood Inn. There was nothing open in nearby Port Carling so we made reservations at the Inn restaurant. I am really glad we did, the food was delicious and the server very good. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Really enjoy going here over the decades. Not as nice as it used to be, but still is pleasant to go for dinner. Enjoy the grounds and walking around.
