This is my FAVORITE sushi spot, hands down.Shinsen is unassuming but cute and unpretentious. They have a window with cocktails to go, and a lot of people grab one and keep going. BUT THE SUSHI!I've been here a few times and have loved everything I've tried. The simple sushi rolls (salmon, salmon avocado, yellowtail scallion, spicy tuna) all have great flavor and aren't overloaded with rice, but have a great amount of fish.The uni is out of this world amazing. I've had the uni cucumber roll and the uni appetizer and it is heavenly. Fresh and sweet. They have a special roll called the umi kasai that comes out on a flaming plate. I recently visited a wonderful little sushi restaurant in Chinatown! Everything we sampled was top-notch, particularly the yellowtail, which was exceptionally light and refreshing. We chose the 16-piece selection for two, featuring a diverse array of sushi based on the daily specials, along with a spicy tuna hand roll. I highly recommend it, as every bite was delicious. However, I found the drinks to be somewhat pricey and not as strong as they seemed. I had the ghost drink, which was akin to a Moscow mule but less sweet. You might be better off opting for sake instead.
We had an amazing experience at this restaurant, enjoying delicious sushi and chirashi bowls that both my wife and I loved. We were initially drawn in by their wonderful matcha iced tea. The Kobe and fatty tuna sushi were exceptional as well. The owner and staff have a remarkable ability to make you feel special, which isn’t necessary but definitely appreciated. I would recommend this place 100%.

We visited this restaurant on our final two days in New York, and it was the best decision we could have made! The atmosphere is stunning, and the sushi was incredible!
I ordered Set D, but it didn't include any uni, ikura, or even scallops, despite these items being mentioned in the description and shown in the photo.
I think the food could have been really good if it had been fresh. This was my first visit to this restaurant, and I left feeling disappointed.
I don't usually eat sushi but after coming here I plan to come back again. Great new addition to Lower Manhattan food scene.
