Sidreria Alorrenea

Let me state at the outset that this my only experience of eating at a sidreria (cider house) so this is not a comparative review. What is indeed certain is that this was one of the best meals I have had during my substantial travels all over the world. Food was very abundant and freshly prepared. Quality of the T bone second to none had not had something similar since my last visit to South America. Unlimited cider was a novelty, even more so the manner in which one fills the glass!!!!!!!!!! After touring the cider museum and learning about the history and the production of this tasting elixir we popped down the road for the lunch that was included with our museum visit. We had absolutely no idea what to expect other than the four course meal we would be having and WOW were we pleasantly surprised. We were welcomed with open arms by the thirty or so men that appeared to frequent the place. The help yourself to the cask of different ciders made for a lot of laughs. Definitely prepare yourself for a lot of food and a lot of drink. Would do it again and would definitely recommend to others.

We went here after the cider tour as a recommendation. It was a great traditional place to go. If you love steak this place has the biggest I have seen. Cooked above hot coals. We enjoyed the fried codfish and salads. The pepper and anchovy salad sets off beautifully with the fish. You receive a baguette of bread to your table which you cut there on the table. You are able to help yourself to the traditional pouring of cider from the barrels on the wall. Remember only a little at a time. It was busy with locals. Highly recommend.

It was a quiet night with only 2 other tables of diners. The cider was great fun trying to get it into the glass from a great height. The service was very friendly although no English communication but we got by. A large bread stick was placed on the table and we were shown how to pour the unlimited delicious cider. The steak was very large and the taste was great however it was a bit tough which was a great pity. However we had a lovely time.

Such a great Sagardotegi! With a fixed menu. Delicious pimientos con bacalao, folowed by a tortilla de bacalao, and the the main dish: the big chuleta! I have never eat a better meat! Finally some nuts and Idiazabal cheese to make it perfect. And don't forget the cyder! No limit drinking from diferent cupelas. Very nice building with a good ambient and friendship owners. We will repeat for sure!

Very much a theatrical experience in this restaurant with the ritual of lining up taking cider from the large barrels together with seeing the gigantic steaks butchered before being cooked over the open fire oven. Good fun a real experience to savour.

One of the most nice and taste consistent txuleta in the area. Pimientos and anchovies is another good dish they serve. Also the sidra is quite good!

price of quality ratio exceptional, very good everything and the attention of the great waiters, even though it was going to be repeated.
