On one particular evening, my family decided to go out for dinner and after everyone submitted their choices, my partner suggested Silk Roots Fusion Cuisine. Initially, I had reservations about the name but I was pleasantly surprised. This charming restaurant located on a main street in Peterborough offers delicious Middle Eastern cuisine. The staff were very friendly and attentive, serving us promptly once we placed our orders. The prices were reasonable and the portions were very generous. What an awesome experience friendly staff. The food is so wonderfully spiced. Aromatic scents as it comes to the table. Biting into my kebab combo especially the shami kebab the flavours that hit the taste buds were amazing. Wonderfully priced amazing food will go again. Worth trying the food and may take my daughter as she is vegetarian next. So many wonderful choices. You can take it home or if you are at the marina or a tourist pick some up. Very family oriented and heart and soul cooking.
Its a toss up as to which one of these Peterborough Middle Eastern restaurants is better Silk Roots or OMG. They are both great. Maybe more variety at Silk Roots. Ordered the Dupiaza Chicken loved the carmelized onions (almost tasted like apple) and the chicken was so tender. Reasonably mild curry. And the side the Ghaimeh, a saffron flavoured beef stew with tomatoes and split peas was a great deal and delicious.
Silk Roots is our go-to for hot and delicious Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food. Everything we've had there, and we've tried almost everything, is so so flavourful and tasty, I end up craving it on a weekly basis. We were told our takeout order would be ready in 15 minutes, but it took 35 minutes to get our food. It was busy, but they were aware of that. Despite the wait, the food was excellent as always. I ordered the beef dupiaze wrap which was delicious with fresh ingredients. My partner also enjoyed her falafel.
My compliments to the chef and our server. Our group of six guests sure enjoyed our dinners. Most of us tried various entrees off the menu and were pleased. It was great to have all the different sauces “on the side” so we could try them all. Thanks for the complimentary samosa.
I have dined in and ordered delivery from this restaurant multiple times. The food is fantastic, incredibly flavorful, and always fresh. The delivery is also very fast!
