Even though my husband and parents are locals, we decided to try The Silver Darling based on recommendations from friends. If you're looking for a restaurant for a special occasion, this is the place to go. The location, which we kept as a surprise, was breathtaking with amazing views even on a windy spring afternoon. When we arrived, my father-in-law mentioned he had been wanting to dine here for a while but could never get a reservation. Thankfully, we were able to secure a table and we were not disappointed. I'd never been here before but always wanted too so for my birthday, I decided to take my mum which was a bad decision on my part as I hadn't realised they had no lift to the restaurant itself only a spiral staircase. We should have left, but my mum tried and did eventually get up to the 1st floor, where we enjoyed a very nice lunch. It was Aberdeen restaurant week the menu was restricted but still a good choice, 2 male staff were very good 1 especially who helped take my mum down the spiral staircase. The strange thing was they had a disabled toilet but no lift or an easier way for older and disabled people to enjoy the food and view's. I am very annoyed with myself for not checking or aski...
Nice quick welcome on arrival, superb starters of Shetland scallops, prawns pil pil, haggis bon bons etc. Mains arrived in a timely manner, halibut was out of this world. Got to love the crab fries, every single time. Lemon sole goujons and Monkfish delicious, the battered haddock as good as always. Desserts delicious. Chose Sauvignon Blanc and Picpoul as our accompanying wines. The service was very very good from our servers, even on a busy Saturday night, they pulled it out of the bag. Not a single issue. I’d say that was 100% success. Highly recommended and look forward to a return in the not too distant future.
I was lucky enough to go to Silver darling twice in a week, once on the old menu and the second time when the new menu came out, both time the food was divine, the Oysters are absolutely amazing and i followed up on the monkfish who was as good. the staff are really attentive, and always ask and give advice on menu when needed. amazing experience and certainly recommend the restaurant to anyone who like good food, good service and reasonable budget. The food was incredible, the service was impeccable and the location unique. Thoroughly recommend the crab straw fries and the steak which was to die for! Only two negatives it isn't cheap but you do get what you pay for, and we got sat near the kitchen door which was a bit draughty. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant however, you will not be disappointed! Looking forward to our next visit.
The staff at this restaurant are incredible. They are attentive and professional. The food is spot on - well cooked and presented. The drink selection includes a good wine list. The setting right at the entrance to Aberdeen harbour allows for a great view of the boats coming in and out. The only downside is that you may need a taxi to get there. Overall, this restaurant is top-notch.
I was disappointed with my meal as it was messy and lacked flavor. I started with mussels, which had plenty of mussels but lacked broth and flavor. The lemon sole goujons for my main course were okay, but the side salad was not good - a vegetable would have been a better choice. Overall, it was not the best dining experience.
The food was tremendous. Scallops, oysters, and Pil Pil prawns to start. Seafood linguine and the halibut for our mains were cooked to perfection. We went for dinner to The Silver Darling to celebrate a family birthday. Lovely food and excellent service says everything about the restaurant. They never fail to hit the mark. The restaurant was busy with a great buzz. The view as the boats come and go is magical as darkness falls.
