I once heard a parent say that kids are the greatest joy and the greatest disappointment and that is SmackDab . Sometimes the food is the best I’ve ever put in my mouth. Other times the same menu item that was out of this world good, will, on another day be under seasoned or over garliced. They are not very consistent on how their food is made throughout the week or months. Grits too garlicky? Egg inexplicably unseasoned? Try a different day next week and it might change your world. P.S. Also their biscuit that was moist and fluffy and delicious in 2020 is now hard and dry. That has been consistently the case for 4 years even though I keep retrying it just in case.
Good luck finding a better brunch (and now Detroit-style pizza!! spot in a strip mall anywhere else on Earth. Barring that qualifier, the staff are incredibly sweet, the drinks are delectable, the food is inspirational, they run excellent deals, the owners are socially conscious, the decor is comfy and inviting... I could go on. I always leave in such a good mood that I don't even care if the 22 is delayed getting back home.
I absolutely love SmackDab! I’ve been eating there regularly for the last 4.5 years. I’m so fortunate that I live close to such a unique restaurant that my vegan friends love and so do I. The crew is always so helpful and friendly when I pick up food. I’m currently obsessed with the bestest sandwich with focaccia bread. I whole heartedly recommend them to anyone that comes to Rogers Park.
In this house, we believe in Smack Dab. Teeny and Axel have built a beautiful thing on the north side — and, as a plant-based garbage disposal, I can confirm that it's the best vegan breakfast in Chicago. I always get the vegan bestest, two donuts, an iced coffee, and a pimento hash – and I share NONE of it.

Really cute little spot that's a great community meeting place. Especially love the patio! I often get takeaway breakfast from here when I want to treat myself on a long dog walk. Love the cinny shug muffins and the breakfast hash
This is an outstanding local spot for both brunch and dinner. They offer fantastic gluten-free options, and the pizza is particularly delicious! The entire staff is incredibly friendly.
One of my favorite places in Rogers Park. Their food is delicious and the care they take of the community around them is outstanding. You can’t go wrong, supporting this small business.
This place is very good in this somewhat food desert of an area. The hours work for me since I'm in the area for work. my bestest seller sandwich was phenomenal
