I am a local and used to frequent this place on my way to work, but after a couple of disappointing visits, I can't understand how this restaurant manages to stay afloat. The manager seems frantic and disorganized, running around like a headless chicken. Despite giving it another chance today, the same chaotic atmosphere persisted. The new server was doing her best, but the loud music at 7am was off-putting and inappropriate for a coffee shop. Overall, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. It's just not for me.
An oasis in the desert on Sheridan Street in Cairns. Coffee Is Incredibly good, made by a real barister who understands coffee. Home made protein balls are amazingly good. Not to mention the service by these two lovely young women who took over the business just a few months ago. Every customer is welcomed with open arms and return customers are remembered by their name. This place is truly a home away from home and I wish that we had more places like this.
I was staying a little outside of the town center and was looking for a place to have lunch, and this restaurant was recommended to me. I'm glad I listened to the recommendation! The staff was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a chicken salad brioche with mango chutney and an old-fashioned banana smoothie. The menu had a great variety of fresh food to choose from. If I had more time in town, I would definitely return to this restaurant.
We were met by two people who smiled and welcomed us. Very refreshing these days. We sat outside on a warmish Cairns day and appreciated their food and coffee. The coffee came the way I asked. Even with an extra shot, some other places don 't get my message of strong coffee with a clear taste. Smith St delivers ! One warning it only operates between 7am and 2 pm we missed afternoon cofee there. Though it is not in the usual tourist zone.

I live near to this cafe and was so excited to have a highly rated coffee shop on my daily walking route. I have tried it on 3 separate occasions and my family have tried it a couple more. The food and coffee are reasonable but the service is horrible and arrogant. Don't even think about brining kids to this place. It is officially on my do not recommended list.
I adore this restaurant. The manager has an amazing memory and is always welcoming. The coffee is delicious. They are environmentally conscious and the food is consistently fresh and unique. The music inside can be a bit loud, so it may not be the ideal spot for a business meeting. Located just outside the city, parking is always convenient.
The customer experience at 6:30 am (we were up early) was just super friendly, truly welcoming and honest, nothing pretentious here! Absolutely charming! Food was super good, filling, healthy and beautiful as well, totally instagrammable if you may, but also delicious! We also got it pretty fast, so did not have to wait for long.
We went there as it was close to our apartments and had popped up with good reviews. Service was bad we waited 40 minutes for food before the realised they had forgotten us (no apologies and the waitress was off hand), then they rushed it and the eggs were not cooked properly.

This morning we walked on in and we’re met by the most friendly staff and the look of the cafe itself is very welcoming.. we got ourselves the turkey panini and corned beef panini they were so yummy and fresh yes yes yes we will be back thank you
Smith street cafe has the best brekky in Cairns! My family and I visited and were happily delighted by the good quality food and warm welcomes from the staff. We will definitely be coming back!
