Okay, so I'm for an alternative cafe bar, so I thought I'd try one night. ber on hahn. no enthusiasm for what was there, ie: knew nothing about it. served a faurly generic IPA album, which was a...offer from the dose no offer of a glass. I was hungry and asked for menu. extremely limited. in the grunde seemed to be a cheese plate all that was available. So, guess if alternative supermarket means it would be ok. super market cheese, with tasteless and dry lumps of the cheapest super market bread. most olive oil and balsamico vinegar. this was obviously prepared by someone who had never had this since they decided to cook tasteless olive oil, but also cheapest balsamico. As the name suggests, if you like an alternative and quirky place, then this is it. It is unashamedly shabby with sunken and old couches that have seen better days and smell that is just as .... interesting... when you walk in. But once comfortably...ensconced in the shabby couch, or on chairs that hug the stage and ottomans scattered about, you get the feeling of sitting in ur favourite aunt or uncles’s house n you see the place in a different light. Good coffee, pleasant staff. Lots of quirky objects occupying different spaces. The band playing was Gypsy Jazz styled on the Django sound of the Small venue, right up close to the musicians. Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon as the music for this bracket was...by polished performers. Worth checking out to see what's on and as it is in a restaurant area with lots of food choices, a live band or two may cap the day off.
Great atmosphere in this quirky little club bar. Came across it when I googled live music Canberra Sunday and I'm so pleased I did. Saw heard the Gypsy Jazz Precinct who will be back for the first Sunday of August. It's a bar...plus serves food and has VEGAN options on the menu so it's just perfect .. to me. A busy Sunday afternoon evening and when you look on their website it's not just Sundays. Worth a look.

I visited this caffe twice when it was calm and had coffee and another time it was quite late and there was a poetic reading at night. So for all the alternative in canberra it is worth checking out this place. it is casual and...delayed back and they have a lot of entertainment to experience. So next time I am in canberra I will fall in to see what is on the show for an evening of entertainment.

more places like these, everywhere. leave them back, unpretentious, di, grassroots, independent...music place, serve quality coffee late at night. big door policy will sit a drink outside and listen to the music for free. or pay to go in. more of it!
A great venue in which to listen and to be listened to. The cafe offered food to share and wine and soft drinks. A warm and enthusiastic audience of regulars and newcomers made for a memorable evening. Don't miss poetry evenings here!

Loved this cute little cafe bar with the old fashioned piano sitting solitary outside. Also the books for you to peruse or borrow whilst you sip a coffee or have a refreshing wine or two on the couch
