We mostly go in for the breads and rolls, sometimes the chicken patties. I gave it 2 stars, not for the food but rather the customer service. I didn 't feel safe in asking what certain dishes were as they 're food name varies from what I 'm accustomed to eating even from my West Indian/Hispanic upbringing. I love variation. This restaurant offers the best dhal puri among the other roti shops on the avenue. However, while the curries are tasty, they are rather small in portion size and could benefit from more flavor. I wouldn't recommend spending your money on the pastries, either. It's also noticeable that the staff seem quite anxious around their boss, who keeps a close watch on everything they do. Working in such an environment must be quite stressful.
I enjoyed the chicken curry, pumpkin, and roti. The pepper sauce that accompanied my meal truly enhanced the overall flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the Liberty area and craving some West Indian cuisine. The customer service was excellent as well—the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Read the reviews: some one did say it needs more flavor... they should mark the roties I received my friends lamb and they received my ox tail... they tasted very similar. The food and service here are excellent. I have never had any complaints. It's one of the best Trinidadian restaurants I've ever visited. I highly recommend it, and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Coming here for the 3 years i have been back in New York. Salt fish and bake or doubles and I am never disappointed with my order or customer service. Sorrel is one of the best I have tasted.
