sweet restaurant. fun decor. nice staff, but slow and not check in to fill our empty drinks until we were almost finished. chef was great to accommodate the substitution of my young daughter, thank you. unfortunately my meal was just bad. steak was fat (typically a large ribeye), but probably the worst cut I've ever seen. I couldn't cut by most of him with a steak knife. cartilage and belt. the broccolini was. I must have missed the carburized part on the menu? the shed kartoffels are actually jalapeño skaloped kartoffeln, but usually a melted cheese block (too easy on real kartoffels I could find) in any case an older crowd. I had to keep my expectations a little deeper.
We had our usual Friday night dinner at Soul Cafe, and it seems I'm falling into a routine because I once again ordered the cod in oil, which I absolutely loved. While there were plenty of other enticing options on the menu, I've really come to appreciate the cod. My wife has become quite fond of the chicken pot pie, and my daughter enjoyed the pumpkin soup along with a very generous specialty salad. My granddaughter devoured the grilled chicken. Everything was delicious! Our server, Eric, thoroughly explained each special on the menu, making our experience feel like catching up with an old friend. Soul Cafe truly outshines Cheers; it is undoubtedly a neighborhood gem!
we went to the restaurant because there was live music at the weekends. no luck! but eating was great, pretty restaurant and really good service. very happy with our choice!
