I've reviewed South of Nick's before but we just had a very good visit. The experience starts with underground valet parking....excellent service right from the start. We arrived early for our reservation and not a problem, we were handled with care and no objections. We had the pleasure of meeting Adrian who took very good care of us...stayed on top of our table and adapted to every special request...masterful. We had the guacamole, Mexican street corn and chips as appetizers. I highly recommend both. This was my first visit to this restaurant and I absolutely loved it! My colleagues have always spoken highly of this place, so I decided to come with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the restaurant itself was beautiful with stunning views of the ocean! We were seated at a table near the bar, and unfortunately there was a loud group nearby which made it difficult to have a conversation without yelling. However, overall the atmosphere was enjoyable. Next time, I think I will ask to be seated further away from the bar. For appetizers, we ordered the ceviche, and for our main courses, we had the taco sampler and the seafood enchilada...
This restaurant review is for South of Nicks, a fine dining Mexican restaurant in Laguna Beach. The reviewer had a great experience dining there with exceptional service on their visit on 9/27. They had to wait for about 30 minutes for a booth, but enjoyed cocktails, shrimp taquitos, and enchiladas. They were so impressed that they decided to come back on 9/30 with their entire family, including their nine-year-old autistic son. Nick's chain is phenomenal in every way. The service and food are outstanding, making it the perfect spot for a date night. Be sure to try the guacamole with chips and a mezcal margarita. However, the hostesses could work on their demeanor as they often come off as a bit disconnected and inexperienced. The food is a solid 5 out of 5.
